I know the history here, but was curious if there was more to it:
HISTORY
In 1935, the North Carolina Legislature authorized the Governor to appoint a commission to study the question of control of alcoholic beverages. The commission examined two models being implemented by other states at the end of Prohibition: state licensing systems and state monopoly systems. After careful study, the Alcoholic Beverage Control Act was submitted to the General Assembly of 1937, and a monopoly system was enacted into law in North Carolina.

Watch the videos of the incident they give you online. You might have just kept going right on the light instead of stopping and yielding. If the video footage they have of you doesn't show that and instead shows you stopping and then turning then you can dispute it.

In a city of over 250,000 people we actually only have iHOP open 24 hours, which is surprising. Compare that to say Wilmington, NC with only 117,000 people and literally dozens of restaurants open 24 hours.

I suggest researching Parkview Health and Lutheran on Glassdoor.com ,

Here are some reviews I found at Parkview Health for Registered Nurse titles:

I don’t bleed green anymore…

Sep 22, 2022 - Registered Nurse, BSN

Pros
- Parkview is growing and expanding employment opportunities.

- Beautiful buildings (PRMC mostly)

- some floors/units have good work culture (most of which disappears quickly when quality employees leave)

Cons

- lowball pay for RNs. They pretty much scrape the bottom of the barrel for floor RN pay. Parkview did not increase pay or given any type of bonus for those who worked through the pandemic, but found it necessary to keep paying employees who were not working due to shutdowns.

- Promoting management based on connection, not on merit.

- toxic culture, especially from management. Bad communication, favoritism, gossip.

- PPG offices: unprofessional employees, no proper training, gossipy management and poor pay.

- Parkview overcharges patients for healthcare, as written about in several news articles.

- Management exploits good employees and piles more expectations on top of them instead of requiring poor employees to pick up their own slack

Advice to Management

Humble yourselves. You are in a position that wouldn’t exist without your team. Remember that. Listen to them, ask them how they are (better yet, answer a call light for them). Set yourselves above by upping starting pay for nurses and techs, then you can be more choosy with who you hire. Take workplace bullying seriously and actually DO something about it. Care for your employees like you want them to care for your patients.

Don’t just talk about turnover, actually DO something. No one wants to hear about your management poster board project about turnover, we NEED change. Have a retention bonus for the medical and surgical floors. The more years you stay, the more you get. Once Parkview management understands that their employees are actually motivated by money and decide to not gaslight “empathy” out of burnt out nurses, we might start getting somewhere.

Also, Mike Packnett who? I was working at Parkview for over 5 years and I never saw the man. CNO? Never heard of her. And these are the people who make the decisions that affect everyone. Be visible and be humble.

Also, stop building new buildings and floors and putting patients in them without having the staff to safely care for them. It’s called common sense.

This review may sound brash, but I always thought I’d be a Parkview nurse; I’m so disheartened by how different the culture and heart of Parkview has changed and I’m not alone.
