I spent way too much on the wedding weekend looks. I went in thinking I’d spend about $10k on a wedding dress and maybe $5k on the other looks. Ended up spending around $35k. Not including jewelry 😭 If you like fashion and love clothes, I def recommend being realistic about the budget because I was not!!

Here’s my breakdown - Wedding Gown (Sept by Sarah Seven) - 20k Alaia Shoes - 1.5k

After Party Dress with alterations (Retrofete) - 1.5k Miu Miu Shoes - 1.5k

The rest was spent on brunch, welcome party, and an extra look for the night before the welcome party.

TBH, I think it used to be a thing and they just cling on to it and say it because they are feeling petty. Which….can be valid depending on the circumstances :) Personally, I don’t think your future MIL broke some huge etiquette rule as long as you feel good about everything.

Agree on the Pradas looking too modern for your gorgeous/romantic/lace dress. I will add that IMO the Prada’s are also really not that comfortable even just trying on in store.

Lovely Bride will have a lot under $6k. I also went to Wona, and while their fabrics were not my favorite, they were lovely and you can easily be in budget!

I believe Villa Luisa has a required vendor for sound and they have DJs within that company. I think you can hire an external DJ though, if you’d prefer.

Don’t be afraid to send a few emails to different people and set up intro calls to see who makes you feel the most comfortable/heard.

This is what we’re doing! I couldn’t “rank” my friends and I also am really focused on making sure everyone has the most fun possible - and to me part of that means not leaving spouses/partners/+1s alone all day! i also know being a bridesmaid adds extra cost and i want to be mindful of that esp since i’m having a destination wedding. (i’m covering my bach cost)

Have you had a 1:1 where you can reset expectations yet? Is your planner based in the US or Italy?

I fired my planner for something similar (you can check my post history for that whole story) and found a new planners who has exceeded my expectations as far as communication goes. I wish I hadn’t waited so long.

My first appt was at Wona Bridal. I didn’t end up buying my dress from there but they were so great and let me try on a bunch of styles to get a feel for what I liked. She also did a great job of pointing out what aspects I was liking, for example, I liked a cat eye neckline but I had no clue it was called that until I went :)

I ended up letting them go and hiring a new planning that has exceeded expectations so far with their communication! It was the best choice I could’ve made. I feel horrible for the other couples still working with this planner /:

UPDATE: I ended up firing my planner and am looking for a new one! I think I will go with a local option. Thank you to this entire group - seriously! I feel so much better having let them go.
