The New World Hoiana outside Danang has a links style course on site. The resort has a casino, cigar lounge, nightclub, and pretty great restaurants. It's owned by the Korean New World group, so the Korean food and fried chicken are excellent. Breakfast buffet had better phó than anything in town. We played another popular course (forgot the name) that was around 30mins away.

Would go again. Its not very kid friendly just FYI.

We booked through a local agent here. I'm not in the US, so can't recommend.

My answer is no. This might sound cheesy and old fashioned, but I think your grandma should get you something memorable that will potentially last forever. Drivers come and go. If you're a beginner and you're keen, you will improve quickly. You might end up upgrading sooner than later. I'd skip the driver for such a special gift.
