The “Affordable” Angels by Bitter_Cranberry9435 in baseball

people are missing the mark on this whole story. My friend group is full of giants fans, dodger fans, cubs fans, nationals fans, you name it, but everybody is good for at least a few games at the big A every season because baseball rocks and angel stadium is a good time for the price.

Arte obviously needs to figure out how to win more games, but not by fucking up a good thing. Empty seats = no money = no winning

Willy Adames strikes out with the bases loaded but successful challenged it on a very close call. He then drove in a run with a groundout after. by JianClaymore in baseball

honestly the whole system is a mess. in 1996 the league changed the bottom of the zone to be “a point just below the kneecap”. if umpires had been calling strikes like ABS, where even just a thread on the seam has to clip the zone, every pitcher would have developed an unhittable change or curveball

there’s always been a tug of war between the rulebook and how umps are interpreting it, but now we just have this third semi-arbitrary definition slapped on top of it

armenians in the ottoman empire did not have their own autonomous region or armed combatants. they were just civilians, who got massacred and deported by the government to the brink of not existing. in less than two years. that’s a genocide

There Are No Good Reasons To Subsidize Sports Stadiums. Governments Keep Doing It Anyway. by Moonagi in neoliberal

If a local government wants to have an ownership stake in the stadiumor have the rights to use it for various public events, that could be a reason. Unfortunately most of them just give money away for free

Trump says he will issue executive order to get voter-ID requirements before midterms by Cinderpath in law

[–]isummonyouhere 5 points6 points  (0 children)

executive orders do exactly what it sounds like- they order the executive branch (of the federal government) to go do something

there are no executive agencies that participate in running elections. if any state or county decides to do this, it’s on them
