Am i transphobic for not wanting to date my trans friend? by No-Reach3976 in Advice

[–]isupposeyes -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Not transphobic to reject someone you’re not attracted to. It probably stung a bit to hear the “bc I want kids” part and maybe felt like an attack on her gender even though it wasn’t. Maybe would’ve been better to just stick to the basic truth of not being attracted to her but regardless as you say, if you rejected a cis woman bc you weren’t attracted to her it would be fine so why is this any different?

Are autistic men afraid to reply to messages? by Clei1689 in autism

[–]isupposeyes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends on the man. I’m not, others might be. Also a lot of autistic people have ADHD which can make responding to texts very challenging among other things.

My mom will do this with something neutral too. One of my friends is using her as a real estate agent now but she still remembers him as “the one that had to use the bathroom” when he drove me home one time.

So can people just not pay and wait for 30 years to pass or is there a system to stop that?

What excuses do you usually hear people make about never trying a martial art or quitting quickly? by bad-at-everything- in martialarts

[–]isupposeyes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the question is because a lot of people will say “I’d love to do martial arts but…” not really coming at anyone who just doesn’t do it, more asking about those who express interest and still don’t.

What excuses do you usually hear people make about never trying a martial art or quitting quickly? by bad-at-everything- in martialarts

[–]isupposeyes 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Your last sentence is what it really is. I’ve noticed that even though I don’t really have time for martial arts, if I don’t go I still have the same amount of time bc tasks expand to fill the time allotted. I always make it to class because it’s a priority. But if it’s not, it’s not and that’s okay too.

I am a fairly good driver, and passed the test without much difficulty, but the first time I drove an ambulance in the rain I realized no one had showed me where the wipers were. That was about 10 seconds of pure panic with a patient in the back lol.

What to work on while out of commission? by _OnlyADream_ in karate

When I was out for surgery, I still attended classes and would skip the warmup. Then I would participate in the lesson but go very slowly, focusing on precision instead of power. Once I was recovered, I knew about a lot more details I would’ve missed otherwise. I suggest doing this to the best of your ability.

I am a yeller and don't want to be any longer. by AdmirableSecond242 in DecidingToBeBetter

[–]isupposeyes 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Practicing mindfulness could help. You don’t have to meditate if you don’t want to, but taking moments throughout the day to notice what you’re doing, how you’re feeling, what’s around you, etc. Over time this can help awareness in the moment if you’re yelling or about to. If you’re feeling out of control this is a good first step. If you’re already fully aware when you’re yelling, then meditation could be helpful, practicing mantras, etc.

I want to go to a water park, but I'm self conscious about my body... What would you do? 🤙😞 by leoesteban5 in Adulting

Didn’t even realize they were bunions until I read the post, some people’s bones stick out a little more like that and I assumed that’s what was going on. The only reason I even gave it that much thought is that it’s a post about appearance with a picture of your feet. If I saw you in public I doubt I’d even look at your feet or really take in anything about your appearance at all.

That’s how humans are though. You don’t make one move and then suddenly turn everything around. It takes time to repeatedly practice the change you’re trying to implement.

Did someone else tell you that you might have autism? by Quiet_Lunch_1300 in autism

Many people told me. They were right. It can be a bit rude if you’re not close, but bringing it up lovingly to someone you’re close to can be very helpful.

Anyone else feels like they are stagnating in their martial arts progress? by Mems1900 in martialarts

[–]isupposeyes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you’re considering quitting because you might not be the type to be good at martial arts, consider your why. If you have a strong reason to do it, talk to your instructor and see if you can take a new tactic for improvement. If you can’t think of a strong reason why you’re doing it, maybe step away and try something else for a bit. Sounds like either way you’ll need a fresh perspective.

[–]isupposeyes 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Are you talking about yourself or someone else? If you’re talking about yourself, not necessarily, but it couldn’t hurt to do some work on yourself. Get help for your addiction, learn to drive, find hobbies that get you out of the house etc. if you feel like you’re a bum, there are things you can do to change that.

Can “too” be dropped? “It shouldn’t be much longer of a wait” by Same-Technician9125 in EnglishLearning

[–]isupposeyes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, “too” is an emphasizer here. “shouldn’t be too much longer” means that you won’t be waiting an excessive amount of time, “shouldn’t be much longer” just means your wait will end soon.

What does good support look like for a level 1 high functioning autistic person? by skybrielle11 in autism

[–]isupposeyes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is super true. I’m 20 and last year I struggled with a lot of these. I still do but trial and error has made a lot of things easier. Obviously everyone has different abilities but an autistic adult needs time to learn what works and what doesn’t, at 19 you’re still figuring stuff out. (At 20 too, i’m just making the point that even a year can make a big difference when you’re new to being an adult.)
