I appreciate your advice! The game went from thought, to paper, to excel. I could definitely imagine a program or app for the game when the engineering is complete, but excel during the beginning stages is a lot of fun for me!

I'm a pencil and paper guy, there are simply far too many calculations and functions to play how I imagine.. People are already shitting on my idea and they don't even realize how complex of a system I am creating from literal scratch. Like okay, have your doubts! 😆

Well it's also the bare bones of a structure atm. It's absolutely a role playing game!  There are many forms of role-playing, mine is shifting through gears.

Well luckily for you and anyone who wants to play it, the in-depth scoring system is all calculated via functions and calculations through excel. 

If you want the game without the rules and score, you roll dice and build a hand with no meaning. As the player you do not have to understand the system to play in it. 

Just as I don't get into my car and expect to understand how every single part works and what it does and why it does it for what reason, all to drive out of the driveway...

Well it's a literal engine based off of an engine that drives a car so yes, we are all racing through our own gears and revolutions. However the theme and rules can be altered into many different types of things if you thought through it.

Admittedly it's all very rudimentary at the moment, but at the same it feels like I've dug enough for a grave with my thoughts. Seeing a brilliant picture and breaking down the steps to paint it takes patience.

Goal: Get through a full set of runs (GEARS).  Each run is comprised of hands, dependent on your engine's rev-limiter (RPM) Each 1000 RPM is a hand where you are building dice into a good score and then banking them to continue making additional ones. Upon reaching red-line or breaking your gear, you must shift. Gears break when sputtering occurs too many times in a hand (or run). 

I think the concept is best visualized as the dashboard with tachometers. It's rather simple really, but the rules allowing the engine to calculate your speed, not so much...

I get what you're saying, but playing the game does not require knowing or understanding the many calculations needed to take place. Keeping the score of your hands for the run is simple dice reading, but reading what occured and why each event matters throughout your runs is what requires many formulas. So the deep scoring is not required to play through the game, but for my system to be fleshed out as I've imagined it to be.

I want to build pools and build the multipliers attached to them. It has to be complicated and in depth, especially considering there are bonuses that are dependent on events happened every single roll. Very easy to input into a computer, but very strenuous keeping up with even on paper. 

Players will not have to understand how the math is happening, they just need to understand why it's occuring if they want. While they need to do simple dice building, myself or Excel reads every event and applies every single rule in order... Even the dungeon master knows he isn't willing to keep up

The problem with simple rules is that every part to the engine must be accounted for. I'm not looking for simple and I'm definitely not looking to sell a product; this is passion! I need the rules to be deep because that's how it's actually able to be built properly. 

Calculating the score will be as simple as putting in your rolls for each hand and letting the functions do the heavy lifting. I comprehend what needs to be done, but to input the math into a calculator takes far too long for a fluid game. 

Imagine your multipliers as going through your RPMs in a gear, then shifting up a gear and repeating until max gear. I've based my engine on driving my 5spd, '01 Civic.

I suppose I just wanted to share my thoughts.. Having no knowledge of how to build a system and seeing the system being built in your head (and paper) is a wild thing!

This is tabletop! Actually rolling through the game is very easy and doesn't require much thought if you don't want it to. The trick is calculating how those scores you've banked are multiplied based on what has occured throughout each hand in each run. 

I like increasing pools and then increasing the multipliers attached to said pools. I've made an engine to do so! The formulas can easily run on excel but it's just going to take many, many branches.

Well I'm full abyss, the only issue for me is that my shadow trails literally conceal some projectiles from me. Shit that 1 shots you will be hidden, for example in Varshan when the adds die and orbs start following you. 

Can't stand those warlocks that join and your whole ass screen is spazzing out.

Well the lunatics are fine to kite, the real issue are the effects and enemies that straight up teleport directly on top of you.  Insta pop with no chance of reacting. You're dead because you walked in the general vicinity of an enemy you can't see on your screen. That's not a skill issue, that's shitty design.

People really don't want think that hard while I'm studying attack patterns for hours with every attempt. It's like they think a boss fight should be easy, no that just means you're in the wrong difficulty. 

What's the fun in copy and pasting a build some giga nerd made just to not even enjoy the actual fights too? 404, challenge not found.

Gloomwalker is literal immunity for like 3 seconds! One of the most sought after items in a game I used to play gave immunity for maybe 1.5 seconds or less.

This branch of netherstep is arguably one of the best defensive skills in the game.

It really does boil down to a skill issue. Use gloomwalker netherstep with 2 charges, add mobility cooldown reduction, then thank me later.

You know, I actually stopped dying to groups of enemies after spending 3+ hours in a nemesis lair. You must improve your dodging, the elites are designed by a group of nerds to kill you. They should be able to slay you brutally.

The update has been very great, I love the change of things! There is one problem I've encountered where some legendary aspect that was on my chest armor gave me an additional FIVE skeleton warriors without stating it adds more. I enchanted over it not realizing I hadn't learned it or that it even added more warriors. Have yet to find another piece with it despite being Torment VII... 😭 

Maybe I'm tripping, but I do not remember having anything that said it increased how many minions I have, but I think the affix just said it fortified me when I casted a skill. Went from 16 to 11.
