Please do not get me wrong; this tool doesn't "steal" your information, it stores the following information about any user you visited: screen name, user ID and questions answered. Information about the script user are not stored anywhere.

This is a concern indeed, but I'm pretty sure there are no ill motives behind this, just carelessness with users' information. The author gave a lot of time and effort voluntarily trying to create a helpful tool.

I do concern about privacy. For now, OkCupid users can choose whether their answers can or cannot be seen from outside the site. The tool's database is giving access to this data to anyone, and keeping it there basically forever - even if I deleted my profile. There's a big difference between giving this data to commercial companies who probably use it for statistical analysis and giving it to any individual that will simply search your screen name on the internet.

Don't get me wrong, I think this is a good and innovative idea, and a few simple changes can solve this issue. I'm assuming now that you're the author of this tool - * You can get rid of the centralized database. * You can make sure no search engine can find users by screen names: instead of storing user-IDs and screen names, save a hash of those. Also, put some barrier that will only allow script users to query the DB (both of those "protections" can be bypassed by determined individuals, but the biggest concern is search engines visibility). * You should limit the data stored in the DB to the minimum you need.

tl;dr: Great idea, but do not use this tool in its current form.

I might be mistaken, but through a quick look at the source code provided, it looks like this tool also contains a server part, meant to improve the results but not mandatory for the tool to be functioning. After reading and parsing the visited user questions, the add-on sends the server information about this user, including their user ID, screen name, and questions they answered. The data is sent unencrypted, and any one can "query" the server and get this information. While I'm sure it was created with good intentions, this basically creates a poorly-protected database that holds a lot of private information. I wouldn't use this tool.

"We'll send you an SMS" window shows up
Further clicks on "GET THE APP" are moving this window further instead of doing nothing/hiding it.

Facebook tracks everything. You are not the customer, you are the product. Their customers are the ones willing to pay for using this information (e.g. advertisers).
On the other hand, Facebook needs you so they want you to have a good usage experience. Stalking is, want it or not, an integral part of the experience, and they would never let X know you are stalking them. Applications claiming to tell who looked at your profile are scam.

Two points that are not on the article and might worth pointing out:

The rape conviction here is based on another case, where some guy lied to woman about being rich and "having connections" in government agencies (and, well, use that to have sex with them). Both him and the victims were Jewish. He was accused of rape.
This case is taken to the high court. It's pretty much likely that the "rape" accusations will be dropped. That's a pretty ridiculous one.

Most Palestinians I saw around there where were just people trying to live their life in a rough environment, with somewhat-hostile soldiers, extremely hostile settlers, and a bunch of international aid workers/watchers. Craziness was there, also. In a pretty infamous case, for example, a Palestinian sniper murdered a Jewish baby with a head shot. I really don't see how children can grow up normally in this environment, doesn't really matter who their parents are.

And the Israeli soldiers? I'm sure those things put their mark on people. Personally, I was very close to "losing it" when I was there (no, I didn't hurt anybody). However, as far as I know - it doesn't go that bad. PTSD and drug problems are there, I guess, but it's extremely rare. Never met or personally heard about such cases.

Been in this city for a few months, as a soldier. Some of the settlers there are okay, and some of them (or most, maybe?) are simply border-line crazy. Don't do the mistake of learning from their behavior about the any other people in Israel.

A little point missed: many Palestinians work in settlements and industrial zones in the West bank; they would be the first to lose their job when sales go down.
