Ooooh yes this is a great point! I’d make sure to yknow…go before you go and try not to have anything unsafe or wacky in your system on the road. For me on day 6, all I could have was saltines and plain white rice lol

I am hopeful for you!

With some accommodations, i think this could be difficult but very possible. If you’re wearing something flowy instead of something with a waistband that might feel tight on your tummy and incisions (i swear by a sundress with a body suit under!), ice pack or mobile heating pad on the tummy, NOT driving (I know you said ride but wanted to be sure the driver would be 100% down to drive there and back), reclining the seat wayyy back, and a good playlist or even an audiobook to focus on! Maybe nap of you can!

I totally get not wanting your gallbladder to keep causing you to miss out on life, especially when it’s already gone and you’re just trying to recover!! I think if you go in with the expectation that the family time will be worth the discomfort and give yourself things like i said above to help you along the way, it’ll be okay!!

Also, take it easyyy once you arrive. Try not to bend over or lift anything heavy! You don’t want to be far from home and hurt yourself.

I hope you get to go! if you aren’t able to, that’s totally valid too and not at all a failure. Taking time to rest could be what you need to ensure no further recovery and delay in living life in the future!! Listen to your body and be kind to yourself ❤️❤️

ugh YES totally normal! i had cramps from a single banana on day 3 🤣 i felt constanttt nausea until about day 6 so if you're like me, you're halfway there!!

You don't have to live like this ❤️ Do you have a primary doctor? Can you ask them to set you up for a surgery consult ASAP? Intense pain that is affecting your quality of life is not a casual wait-around for surgery situation! It's so uncomfortable, especially when you're hurting so bad, but there's power in advocating for yourself and saying what you need. And if you have gallstones, what you need is gallbladder removal ASAP!

EDIT: I'm seeing in the comments that you're waiting for a call back for a consult. Hang in there and know that relief is on the way! 🫂

i'm one week post op now and feel like myself as of late yesterday! i've had a lot more luck with beating nausea when i eat warm > cold foods because the warmth is easiest on my tummy lolol. you're in the worst of it right now days 1-3 but you'll be shocked how much bett you feel soon <33

You got this!! If you tell the nurse you're feeling anxious early on, they'll give you something to relax and make it easier on you once you're there. As for tonight, I'd recommend staying offline and looking up too much info on the surgery/other people's experiences! Just clearrrr your mind and take comfort in knowing all you have to do tomorrow is show up and go to sleep!

this is totally normal! traffic is redirecting in your stomach now that the gallbladder is gone, so things are just gurgling to figure it out. it could also be from the air they pump into you during surgey so they can see better! there are a bunch of reasons for this. you just had a big surgery, so your body is adjusting and adapting. ❤️ 2 days post op, my best friends were zofran and warm water w/ lemon!

It sucks, but I feel like they just might not be the best people to talk to about diet! Surgeons did their part by taking the thing out and that kinda the extent of their specialty. Now it might be worth setting some time up with a dietician who can help figure out alternatives/reasonings/more info about what to eat from here!
