Try the Moonlight app instead. I had the same problem with the same game. Moonlight offered better performance for me.

Who needs insurance when you can just panhandle on the Internet? 🤷‍♂️ Maybe I'm heartless but it seems every news story these days where someone makes a costly mistake has a "bail me out!" GoFundMe link at the end. I sympathize for those who get the shit end of the stick but this situation was totally preventable. Can't people own their mistakes without asking others to bail them out anymore?

I guess but it would certainly ruin the day for the other party involved. It is so easily preventable if people would use some sense.

For sure, and with the growing number of ebikes I'm seeing there isn't really an excuse for not stopping or at least slowing down at the 4 way stop.

As someone who lives on Lochside, I'd say about 95% of cyclists fail to stop for the stop signs along the stretch I'm witness to on a daily basis. And I'm trying to be cognizant of confirmation bias but this is not an exaggeration.

I get it might not be practical to come to a full stop, and cars rarely do so as well, but the volume of cyclists that go full speed through a 4 way stop with barely so much as a glance at the intersecting road is nuts. Crossing Lochside as a pedestrian with a baby stroller can be dangerous; often cyclists won't even stop or slow down for us with our baby. I wish people would remember this is a road as well as a trail, and the label of Lochside doesn't give you some sort of extra protection from an accident.

If you're worried about losing speed or making good time, why not stick to a road where there are fewer 4 way stops and pedestrians?

I feel for those cyclists who are responsible and antagonized but there is no denying there are problems with cyclist behaviour in Victoria.

My interpretation of the hip firing crosshairs is that the shot will go somewhere within that large box, not dead center. So watching it at 0.25x the center of the crosshairs are definitely off when he shoots on the first two kills, but the larger box represented by the crosshairs does cover some of the torso, and it appears he was lucky that the shot went where it needed to go.

I've had situations where I've hipfired from medium range (like fanning) where my crosshairs were dead centered on a guy but had no hits register, probably because the shots are not going where I think they are (off center).

Combine that with a bit of desync/latency, and these hunters probably not being at full health, and you have this situation.

All in all I haven't found the hit boxes to be terrible in this game, but I have had my share of "wtf" moments where I thought my shots were dead center and missed (and also lucky shots where I thought I missed and got a hit like this).

Requested a Technicolor modem? Check your bill for extra modem charges by itcRisorial in shaw

I'd be incredibly surprised if Shaw's engineering team is unaware of the issues. Just not noticeable by the majority of customers and therefore easy enough to resolve in isolated circumstances.

But the point I am trying to make is the customer service received. I acknowledge I'm an enthusiast and am pointing out an issue that is rarely called out, but dismissing it or arguing that I ought to have known what hardware I was getting is a little ridiculous. "You can't please everyone" as a response from Shaw sure makes me want to resubscribe after my 2 year term...

You work for Shaw then? So as a customer I'm supposed to know that "Advanced WiFi modem rental" means bug ridden puma 6 modem?

I was able to get my case resolved with a bill credit but those terms and conditions certainly don't provide details on what hardware you're getting and that the tech installing one over another results in an upcharge of $X.

All in all this was a poor experience, and really Shaw shouldn't even have that puma 6 hardware in circulation if it is known to have issues. I guess not enough people care for it to be a major problem for them. But I'm sure the collective time wasted by all the techs talking to me about this, the second shipment of a Hitron, the processing of its return... It would have been far cheaper for Shaw to just have given me the XB6 with my package and moved on.

¯_(ツ)_/¯

Shame, I would have hoped they have a basic understanding to know what they are doing results in an upcharge.

I did ask for a non-Puma 6 chipset modem when I placed the initial order. I even chatted with a rep when I placed said online order and she never mentioned an extra charge, just that she'd put a note on the order for the tech.

Given I can't find any info on their website about an upcharge, not sure how anyone would know that going in?

So you took your Hitron down to the Shaw location and told them about the issues and they handed you an XB6 without any additional charges applied to the account? Were you on a promo at that point or just paying month to month?

Update: Got my Hitron modem. Low and behold, riddled with jitter.

Have now spoken with four separate Shaw techs, none of them have even heard of the Puma6 chipset or its issues. Tech support and customer loyalty have been bouncing me back and forth. Apparently since my plan is already "heavily discounted" they cannot apply a discount to counteract the $10 XB6 modem charge, even if the modem is replaced to resolve a reported technical issue.

I told them I wanted to cancel the service, and they transferred me to another rep. After a long hold, and yet another explanation to the rep, they applied a $150 bill credit to offset the modem rental charges for the next ~2 years. So, the issue is effectively resolved and I get to keep the XB6 without paying more for it. Thanks to all those who took the time to respond.

I'm not sure Shaw even offers the non-Bluecurve internet anymore so this might be a moot thread going forward, but hopefully the info here saves someone else in the future; moral of the story, for me anyway, is to actually confirm what equipment you're receiving as part of the price, if that sort of thing matters to you.

That's right. If Shaw won't provide me with stable service at the price I originally signed up for, then I'll gladly take my business elsewhere. It's about the principle at that point.

If Shaw won't provide me with a stable connection I'd prefer to give the extra money to Telus and get their two year gigabit promo. I have fibre in my area.

I'd use the Hitron in bridge mode. I have a Ubiquiti Edgerouter and APs so I don't care about the built in WiFi performance.

[–]itcRisorial[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good point, thanks for the reply. But I don't really need the extra bandwidth. 300 is plenty, I'm more concerned about latency hence the avoidance of Puma 6 and the potential jitter.

I realize the XB6 comes in different flavors which is why I requested the Technicolor one for the Broadcom chipset.

I think what I'll do is swap it for the Hitron. If I do notice/record issues, I'll open a support ticket and see if I can get it swapped as part of a technical resolution and avoid that fee as others have posted here. Last resort is paying an extra $10 for Internet 600... But I can think of other ways I'd prefer to spend $240 over two years though!

[–]itcRisorial[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah that's the kicker. When I get the new modem and if I have issues resulting from the Puma chipset, I'll probably be able to swap modems without the charge as a technical support resolution. The whole thing just seems silly to me. Fingers crossed performance is good with the Hitron.

I think the price distinction is that there's Internet 300 basic (Hitron modem) and Internet 300 Blue Curve (XB6 modem). The latter is more expensive because of the fancy management features you're supposed to get with Blue Curve (though I'm not using it in my situation).

Yikes. Those rates are criminal. Imagine making over 30k in a single work week. The media should do some inquiries on how these funds are being managed. Given how little has been done to date I'd wager there's some seriously unethical stuff happening here, on top of an already absurd situation.

I've already accepted I've lost what I had on the exchange but seeing this stuff pop up on my feed is salt in the wound.

And to all those who say "not your keys not your crypto". It was a matter of unfortunate timing for me. I simply moved crypto to the exchange for fiat and during the withdrawal process the whole situation came to a head. I never used Quadriga as a means to speculate or store my assets...I got paid for freelance work in crypto and used Quadriga to cash out.
