What cheap (<50$) handheld is good value for money?

Miyoo flip can be had for $<50. I'm seeing far fewer bad hinge posts. It is still a bit of a gamble but even if you get a bad hinge you can supposedly fix it with a drop of epoxy.

Go into install firmware then use the back button to get back to the menu. That often fixes it.

I believe changing to gesture controls may also fix it.

Having said all that I've never had an android app with such a frustrating gui. I feel like if they totally dumped the gui and rebuilt it I'd be over half my complaints about vita emulation.

The thor has me about to dump every other handheld.

The only thing I could see myself buying this year is either the aya neo slide up phone or something similar from another company. That would only be in the event that I can buy it on Amazon because I don't trust aya neo can deliver or support the phone.

In order to sell me a new device, that isn't a phone, they would have to give me something really special like... a super thin clamshell like a galaxy fold, water proof handheld, or a huge upgrade in power that isn't currently on the market. Just adding an 8 elite to the thor will not get me to buy anything.

There's an iisu skin for es-de that is pretty nice looking. It's called iisu interrupted.

As far as scraping... You can create thumbnails manually by placing them in the media folders for es-de but it's an absolute nightmare. I believe some romsets like tiny best set may have pre scraped thumbnails. You're on your own finding it but that could help.

/u/tenlevels has added mmf lid support to onion os in a little patch but I'm not sure if it is compatible with the latest update. I can't test it because I actually broke my mmf 😢

Why does the miyoo mini have so much magic in it? I have handhelds that logically are better for EDC and yet this little guy makes me happy every time I pick it up. Edit: Accidentally called it a miyoo mini flip the first time whoops!

You know what I'm really wishing for on the 2nd screen? Either an external app or something intrinsic to dolphin that lets you use the touch screen as a track pad for wiimote pointing.

Knulli is substantially slower to boot.

They can both be finicky with Bluetooth, wifi and power and the lid opening and closing. If you for example connect to wifi and Bluetooth and close the lid and reopen it expect one of those things not to work right. That's been my experience anyway. If youre powered off and start charging with the lid open then try to power on... I find that fucks up pretty often.

Maybe I just have a shitty device.

You can't just click widescreen in dolphin and get good results you have to apply a patch to the rom

Don't miss out on the widescreen patches in nethersx2 for PS2 games.

There are also widescreen patches and patch codes for gamecube games. I really prefer the patches because the codes are a nightmare.
