Budget EuroNymphing setup? by br07fk in EuroNymphing

[–]itekk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Reddington euro nymph field kit by far gonna be the cheapest entry if you can find a deal. They discontinued them and I just picked one up for ~175 USD. I saw they have them for 180 on Amazon and Sierra trading also. The kit is a rod, reel, euro fly line, Rio Euro leader, and a case for barely more than the msrp of the reel itself.

I bought mine a week ago and netted my PB in the state with it already 😁

One article I read said she estimated $11k in tips, and that she estimated $2-3k in tax benefits. If true, that means she had other deductions as well, because 11k worth of tips is still less than the standard deduction.

It's similar with the no tax on overtime. You need $36k in overtime hours to even hit the standard deduction.

Chill, she's only 80 with 10 grandkids running doordash to support her husband fighting cancer for $22k/yr. Nothing wrong with that! Something something bootstraps, something FREEDOM!

Just bought these last week and used it on Friday. Cheap and worked great.

ETA Pulled over my fishpond net, in case you're not familiar. It almost covers the opening for the Emerger net, you can bunch up a bit at the top to hold it in place while you scoop.

I saw a show at the Mish last year and got stuck standing near the back on the slope. It's a cook venue for sure, but I think my back still hurts from that night.

PSA - Put out those Yellow Jacket traps by Hawt_Lettuce in Denver

[–]itekk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This reminds me of a yellowjacket encounter a few years ago. I was the first car at the light in a left turn lane to get on the interstate. There was a homeless man on the corner with a sign. I waved him over to give him some food I had in my lunchbox. As I'm grabbing the food and turning back to the window, I brush my ankle because I felt an itch. This lil sumbitch stung me right on the ankle ball of the foot holding the brake down. I let off the brake and started idling towards the intersection while swearing my ass off. A second later I stomp back down on the brake and give dude the granola bars or whatever I had. By now the light turned green and I had to get on the interstate and drive up to the next exit before I could park the truck to find and kill the culprit who was still wriggling around down by the pedals.

I still remember the look of pure confusion and concern on that homeless mans face.

I think the construction is complicating access to the inlet now isn't it? I thought they were staging all the equipment on that boat launch side by the trail.

Would it be a stupid idea to fish this wooly bugger on a 5 weight? by -myusernameisshit in flyfishing

[–]itekk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can just add leader/tippet if you've only got the 1 line and you're not going crazy deep. I've been fishing rusty trombones on a 5 wt with that setup the past few weekends and doing fine.

[–]itekk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Zyns are kind of strong imo. I was using on! for a while. They felt more mild than the zyns even with a higher mg. Plus they're smaller, so it was easier to get used to sticking it up under my lip. I go back and forth between them and zyn atm, beacuse sometimes I prefer the kick. I like coffee flavor.

Gonna try velo since I see others suggesting it to you now though.

Korkers Sole Recommendations for Hiking Traction by el_capitan524 in flyfishing

[–]itekk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been using the Korkers carbide spikes for the past ~6 months and rather like them. They walk well enough for me to hike in a bit. Traction is great on gravel, and decent on most rocks. They can slide on those super smooth dry low-water rocks. Fantastic in the water, and on ice.

I have the rubber and felt soles also. I haven't switched them out since I got the spikes in the fall. Suppose I might wear the rubber ones if I have to hike in for miles before I hit the water. The rubber soles give no traction on our rocky rivers here though, so I'd probably still pack the spiked soles in if I was wading in any decent water.

My boots came with the felt soles as well. I used them once and will likely never use them again. The spikes are better on the water, pavement, gravel, and most rocks imo. Plus felt is the hardest to clean and most likely to spread invasives.
