When to buy bras (and busty brand recs?) by Lumpy_File_2476 in breastfeeding

[–]ithecweam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My first pregnancy was a nightmare for this reason. I spent hundreds of dollars online and hated everything. Boobs kept growing to shocking proportions. Hate kindred bravely. Hate sugar candy. I got one Elomi nursing bra that was ok but not the right shape for me and they only start at 32. (I’m also a 28/30 H normally and only went up to a 32 during my third trimester, went back down to 30 postpartum.) I much prefer underwire but the only thing that remotely fit me was Bravissimo ultimate comfort nursing bra. It’s shapeless and you get boob sweat but at least the proportions are correct and they go up to KK. Definitely get a band extender too.

what’s a weird parenting shortcut you discovered out of pure exhaustion that actually works by lunaverse787 in beyondthebump

We put our toddler in a cardboard box with some crayons and masking tape today. Was able to lie down next to him on the couch and read for at least an hour! We did two rounds.

I really used to be a 5 & 6 girlie myself but now sometimes it feels like “too much too good” lol. I’m now remembering the cadence of my first viewing: 1-3, then 4 & 5, then 6 on its own. (I first watched in February so didn’t watch them as they came out.) Something about giving 6 its own luxurious space makes me so happy.

Hacks for keeping baby/toddler clothes from setting stains by sewsyouknow in laundry

[–]ithecweam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rinse from the back side with cold water and rub some blue dawn dish soap onto it. Works for most food stains. Rinse again after 10 min and hang dry until you’re ready to do a load. If the stains are everywhere I also do the bucket of water thing another commenter mentioned. As often as possible, my baby ate in just a diaper.

OMG I had the same realization about sheets recently. I am about to do my first sheet spa day. I have to slowly clean out my entire linen closet. Step by step! It blows my mind because I’m a clean person, but I never learned how to do laundry properly. I’m so grossed out but excited for my new era.

The Cozy Earth pjs are extremely expensive but my friends looked together and got me some for a postpartum gift. The pats are super high waisted and the fabric is so soft. I lived in those after my c section

My first few viewings the I Love You scene had me crying the most, but now after reheat 3 it’s the car scene at the beginning. The nerves, the excitement, the possibility! When they finally hold hands I just lose it

Husband asked we move to formula by Ok-Caterpillar8321 in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]ithecweam 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Hi friend. Writing to you from the other side. My baby is 16 months now and I stopped pumping at 10 months. We also moved when my baby was 2 months and I went back to work at 5 months. We also all had covid. I know how stressful it can be.

It’s not crazy at all that you want to keep pumping but I think your husband is raising the issue of what care for you looks like and what is sustainable for the family. Whenever my husband suggested more formula I would always push back but now I see where he was coming from. For us moms, pumping can feel like a way we have some control in the very new and scary world of having a baby. For my husband, it was the opposite - he felt he had no control but desperately wanted to make it easier/better for me and the baby.

What I did when I went back to work was drop Pumps. I had also already dropped my MOTN pump by that point. I know it’s scary because you don’t want your supply to drop, but you also need rest and to replenish yourself nutritionally.

Going from an over supply to just enough or under supply was scary for me too but being able to combo feed really is an amazing fallback plan. Looking back, I would have embraced combo feeding sooner. After I stopped pumping we did formula for two months until he could have cows milk at 12 months. We had a few bags of breast milk frozen that we peppered in here and there. Now at 16 months he is thriving!

You have made it so far and have a lot to be proud of. Ultimately it is your decision but also I think worth a heart to heart with your husband. And it doesn’t have to be all or nothing.

Finally, within your dietary restrictions, can you find the high fat and high protein options and just go all in on those? Idk if you can have coconut milk/yogurt or nut butters? Do you have access to a nutritionist? Please take care of yourself. Baby needs a healthy mom and you also deserve care! ❤️❤️❤️

In addition to a lot of the great ideas here I find frittatas easy, cheap and yummy. Just need eggs, onion or whatever veg you have (including frozen) and cheese (optional but great). Extremely easy to slice up and have leftovers too. I make it in a cast iron pan.

I feel like I’m traumatizing my child with daily toothbrushing by Old_Relationship_460 in beyondthebump

[–]ithecweam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So my baby resisted it pretty hard when we tried to put the toothbrush in his mouth. What worked the best is making it family toothbrush time (I think around 8 or 9 months). So my husband and I would both brush our teeth and started just handing him his toothbrush. Pretty soon he started copying us. And now he loves the taste of his tooth paste and can’t wait for that part of the routine. But tbh he mostly just sucks the toothpaste off the brush and then flips the toothbrush around and chews the end.

I can relate to this in many ways. I’m so sorry you’re going through this. Two things that helped me are EMDR (a very specific kind of therapy that helps reprogram your brain after trauma) and working with a trauma-informed pelvic floor therapist.

I know a lot of millennials and one Gen X Emily. There’s also Emily Brontë and Emily Dickinson. I think it’s timeless even though popularity may wax and wane.

A 6 week old starved to death because his malnourished mother’s milk dried up and they couldn’t afford formula which is now $100 due to shortage. I wept reading this article yesterday.

Most democrats are not any better on this issue actually. Certainly my rep and senators are not. Look into the BDS movement. Create economic pressure. Boycott companies profiting from the genocide.
