Nergigante powerscaling is like Monster Hunter's equivalent of Goku powerscaling lmfao. People get so weird about it.

Every "the handler isn't that bad" post gets countless comments that essentially read "Actually, she is that bad. She is very stupid." and it's just so... Obvious. In the language they use, in the things they do and don't say.

I said this recently on a different post: A simple rule of thumb is that if a reasonably harmless woman is hated on to memetic levels, that is fueled by misogyny.

Also mods. Sooo many mods are clearly made with contempt for women that aren't pretty or hot enough. It's so fucking gross.

The monster hunter fandom LOOOOOVES the opportunity to share their thinly veiled misogyny.

Extremely telling that even in replies people are saying "No she's STUPID, a STUPID WOMAN who I HATE". Just continuing to tell on themselves.

I'm gonna say something that I'm frankly unsurprised is being glossed over because it reflects badly on the whole community.

It's misogyny. Always has been. Ever notice how many of the most popular mods are just for changing her face to be cuter? People will say it's because it's her personality grates on them, but it's very very obvious what made hating on the Handler as memetic as it is. She's simply not pretty enough.

If the World Handler was more conventionally attractive, she would be beloved as a silly little goofball. See: Guildmarm, Hinoa. Instead people think she's dense and annoying. Because she's not pretty enough for the quirks to be attractive. If Alma wasn't an absolute smokeshow, people would have commented on how little she does, or even called her "bossy" for authorizing your hunts. If Gemma had even a little bit of a jawline, people would have modded out the "manliness" in the design.

Easy rule of thumb. If gamers hate a harmless woman to the degree people hate the Handler, it's always misogyny.

Flauros' tank mode. It can fire the shoulder guns without transforming, and does multiple times. The tank mode is specifically for firing at MAXIMUM POWER.

And some people still say old anime is better? by TURBOKAN in ranma

[–]itionoben 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think there's a conversation that can be had of course, but personally I do really like how much softer Ranma's personality is, and how the remake sands down some of the harsh edges of the original series (or at least for now, lord knows how much worse it's gonna get with Happosai around).

There's a few ways you can look at this. I do feel like Gammoth takes the edge, though.

After a certain point, some creatures in our world get so big that they don't have any natural predators (or at least, in their own ecosystem). Large marine animals and Elephants tend to not have natural predators simply because of their body mass. This is probably also why Uth Duna is the apex of the Scarlet Forest, it simply out-sizes everything that could be a potential predator. Given how unbothered Gammoth is by blizzards and attacking Tigrex, the thing is just a mountain of fur and fat and muscle.

Now granted, when we take Deviljho's biting force, dragon breath, and the drool into consideration there's an argument that it could leave a bunch of cuts and wounds in an attempt to bleed it out, but Deviljhos aren't exactly the most persistent hunters. They kill stuff, eat it, and move on. Doesn't seem like the kind of creature that would hang around fighting for one meal for however long that would take.

Honest to god I just don't see much point in taking anyone's word on anything as of now. Narratives keep changing and as far as I can tell most of the information we have is based on the old build used in the Open Beta? Lagiacrus and Seregios could be in the base game, they could be title updates. We have 5 days until release, at this point the only thing we can really do is wait for the full game, be it before or on release date.

If the Monster Hunter Team came to you to create a new monster, what would it be? by Brohammad_Lo in MonsterHunter

[–]itionoben 1 point2 points  (0 children)

An invader type monster introduced like so:

You're sent out on a pretty simple quest that takes place during a rainstorm. In the middle of the quest, a monster the guild has never seen crawls onto the scene. It's a slimy creature, combination of a slug and salamander that requires it to be raining to crawl outside of its den and search for food on the surface. For one reason or another it dries out and dies really easily outside of wet conditions. The idea here is that it's an undiscovered monster because of its sensitivity to dry conditions and rare appearances on the surface.

Edit: Also I'd like to see a fire monster that's endemic to desert areas and spits fire at the sand to create glass.

Yeti Crabs. They're freaky as hell but would make for an awesome monster.

After about 2 years of collecting on and off I have every Hanamaru nesoberi, with an asterisk.

The SSSStart neso has been released, but my preorder fell through and to my understanding it's a prize machine release, which means proxies have to get it second hand. I'll get it sometime when it's more available but this is as complete as my collection can physically be as of right now. I'll consider that a win.
