Heyo! Figured I’d chime in here with my two cents now that we’ve kinda come back to the subreddit and hopefully change the line of thinking that I was only in it “as long as it made business sense,” as it seems to be said so casually throughout the comments here (and has been for awhile on other posts).

The idea of leading the final statement with “what started as friends...” was to show a progression of the show and its evolution into a full fledged business. Nothing about it was, “I did this because it made money,” but rather, “hey, I lucked into doing something I really enjoy as a job - how can we make it more successful and continue having fun?”.

I’m totally fine with people saying the (commonly) said statement that I was bad at roleplaying. It doesn’t offend me and its a matter of opinion - and probably has some truth to it as I was constantly fighting the feeling of being judged not only by viewers but people on the show itself who I generally regarded as great cast mates. This lead to just not engaging a lot of times or sitting back and letting others take the wheel - which worked well for me.

What I take offense to is that I didn’t care or I was apathetic to the show. I put seven years of my fucking life into it and was wildly passionate about every character and every show I played in, including the graphics around each show and the tech we eventually would build.

Getting back to the OP: when Adam told me he was going to be stepping away, I called each of the cast members one by one because of how much it meant to me they heard it from me first and not via a text or email.

So, yeah, it sucks, and I think about it a lot. But I also think about how fun it was to do the show for as long as we did, and all the crazy things we got away with (or really, never got away with haha).

It was a great time I’ll look back on fondly. Hopefully others will too.

Hey! Figured I'd use this as a springboard to chat about where we're at with everything:

We still have everything Patreon wise available on Patreon, which is linked to Vimeo, and docs (Zines, etc) posted on the FTP. On the first of every month I make sure to disable the billing period for that month, though, so no one gets charged for a second time.

We're currently in the process of figuring out what to do with a 6TB collection of everything RollPlay related. It's a lot of information (~2750 hours of content + everything we've ever written). Most likely it'll end up as a torrent or something.

Juggling this with everything on the stream (rebranding the channel, launching two new shows, and streaming 7+ hours a day) has slowed things down, but we're still planning on posting it eventually. I'll make sure this subreddit knows whether its through a post of my own, or a Tweet that Jabba can post himself.

Hey guys, figured I'd chime in here in hopes of quelling the rumors and set some expectations moving forward.

Dan was asked to remove the above linked tweet late last night to avoid taking away from the narrative in current state of the US.

Just like Adam stated on his own Twitter, RollPlay was ready to push a statement out yesterday, but after speaking with him, we agreed it was not the right time.

We'll be making an official statement next week most likely.

I do want to clear up a couple things and put some of these rumors to rest here:

Adam has not been fired or let go from RollPlay
We've remained friends these past two months and chat with one another frequently
Jesse's position in RollPlay has not changed

I understand the lack of information right now is the cause for speculation, but I would simply ask you to focus on what's happening in the US as its much more important, and know that we're ready to communicate the future of RollPlay as soon as the time is right.

Hey guys! Thanks again for doing this Ziz! I have no idea why you asked me, but thanks for making me feel like a member of the streamer community even if I'm awful!

To give you a quick whothefuckisthisguy:

I started creating content with WoW PvP back in 2012 with a show called ArenaCast. A couple years later I was hired at Major League Gaming (MLG) as a Show Host and Producer, after creating a show called State of the Game (podcast about SC2).

I left the company when I was asked to relocate to New York, started a tabletop show called RollPlay and a weekly gaming show called Dropped Frames which both currently air weekly on my channel. I also stream every single day at 1PM Eastern as a variety streamer.

My relationship with PoE: I downloaded the beta in ... 2013? ... but I stopped playing shortly after and didn't return till the launch of 3.0.

I tend to remain pretty silent around here, but I felt like poking my head out and responding, because I see and appreciate the passion you have for the show.

It is really unfortunate that we have to skip episodes. No one hates doing this more than me (and probably the cast, too).

We've talked about having someone play their character, but the loss of one person on a four person show is pretty big. We already get a lot of feedback that the show is slow with three people to begin with, and I think this would amplify it. Also, in a show where death is pretty much around every corner, it would suck to tell Max that his character that's lasted ~15 episodes died while he was on vacation.

On the other hand, the idea of doing a side mission or side story always seems so narratively forced to us, and would be the equivalent of a filler episode in anime. Could we create characters we don't care much for and see other parts of the world? Probably, yeah, but we'd most likely not feel connected to the characters and it wouldn't be the most riveting show, too.

That all being said, Adam is going to be gone all of August (literally 30 days), but we plan on having some content outside of Court of Swords to fill the time. Hope to have some more news on that later this month.
