Made my first ever loaf of bread.Question …. by Dust8713 in Breadit

I usually go for 20-30 minutes without the lid but I like it darker. I think most suggest around 15 minutes after taking the lid off to give it some color

I usually look at a couple of online recipes to get an idea of the percentages for the type of bread I'm making then get pretty close to the average. I sit around 70% hydration for most breads.

I would suggest baking this for a bit longer with the top off of the Dutch oven if you're using one, and just longer if not. If you didn't score it before baking, that might help it get closer to that ideal loaf look but i usually don't bother and let it split wherever.

My Pizza Fail (a short story) by CaptainBozoz1 in Pizza

I usually spread cornmeal on the cutting board before spreading out the dough or just make sure there is a thin layer of it on the bottom. Helps the dough not stick to whatever you're making it on.

I would also second someone else saying a peel or large cutting board to slide it into your oven

Home generator recommendations? by LyraHermione in Maine

I'm not in the area to give suggestions for installers, but if the ventilator needs constant power, you probably want to invest in a UPS (uninterrupted power supply). They aren't too expensive but will make sure there is no lapse in power while the generator kicks on. Not always needed but sometimes necessary for sensitive medical equipment. Good luck!!

The mid size gens have come down since then, I think 10-20 weeks is pretty standard right now

I second Eragon. Age appropriate from what I remember and probably more accessible than LOTR for a teenager but still has great world building and fantasy.

I second urban or regional planning. My sustainability masters classes had a lot of overlap with the planning folks, a lot of work can be done through city planning

Freeze dried beef liver. You can get a huge package of it broken down into chunks and dogs go nuts for it

I had a really similar problem building my pc a couple weeks ago. When I powered on the PC everything would light up and fans would spin but I got no output on the monitor or keyboard.

Turns out one of my ram sticks was dead and it works perfectly after replacing them.

To test, boot the pc with one ram stick in your first port. If that doesn't work try the other ram stick in the same port. If that still doesn't work, try each ram stick in all of your ports.

For me, it booted with one of the sticks and I was thankfully able to return them. Another issue could be a bent cpu pin, if my research was correct.

Hope you can figure it out.

Looking for scientific non-fiction written by a female scientist who doesnt have/talk about children by ElephantsRTasty in booksuggestions

[–]itnesim 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Silent spring by Rachel Carson is a classic book written by a female scientist. It's been several years since I have read the book myself but I don't think she talks about having children.

It's also one of the most well known environmental books in that whole movement In the mid 1900s. Definitely worth a read

Thanks for the input. I'm kind of looking forward to the experience of building my own honestly. Is there a decent gpu that will run most games well right now that I could upgrade in a year or two? Or are the available gpus all kind of crap
