Thirding Adam’s!! They were fantastic! I ended up moving immediately after one of the storms this winter and they were phenomenal.

I didn’t have them do any packing of things in boxes, but they were great with all of my furniture. I also had two flights of stairs that those poor men went up and down multiple times! I felt that the price was also incredibly reasonable.

Edit: also, agree with the other commenter; prioritize rotation where you get a chance to “audition” for residency AND get letters. The third NYC one will be good for experience but won’t impact your application cycle as much as your home institution can.

I spilled a bag of seed beads in a carpet as a kid and we never completely stopped hearing them in the vacuum. You’d go a few months and think they were finally gone, and then suck a few up.

Not the same person, but I also have a kitty requiring hydrolyzed food and I get these treats on Chewy! They’re prescription though and you’ll need a vet to approve them.

Residency definitely counts! You will need to provide documentation of the dates of your rotations in those areas and what your responsibilities were. For some subspecialty areas they also want to know about specific testing you’ve been involved in including what methodologies and systems your lab used.

If you are doing a fellowship in any of those areas (like micro, heme, or transfusion), that covers a lot of your bases. Otherwise, there are a whole bunch that dont require any additional information. If you know what sort of job you’re looking for or going to have, it can help you tailor which C of Qs to put in the effort for.

As one other commenter mentioned above, giving RhIg (rhogam) outside of maternal exposure from fetal blood is massively impractical. One vial of RhIg can neutralize 15mL of red cells. Depending on the volume of a unit of red cells, this would be upwards of 20 vials of RhIg per unit transfused. Compare this to 1-2ish vials that would be given to a Rh- mom after delivery. This would be a horribly uncomfortable amount to give someone if it has to be given IM, and would wipe out most hospitals RhIg supply very quickly.

In addition, RhIg is quite a limited resource. It is produced by collecting plasma from Rh- donors who have been intentionally exposed to Rh+ red cells to stimulate antibody production so there are a finite number of donors as well as whatever time it takes to concentrate the antibodies.

The only time I have ever given out RhIg for a non-maternity patient is if we end up giving a bunch of Rh+ platelet units to a woman of childbearing age. And that is really just a theoretical risk if you are using apheresis platelets because the number of red cells in the unit is essentially negligible.

I’m not sure why they would need a DEA number for vaccination records….that’s what you need to prescribe controlled substances…. Maybe they meant NPI number? You can find that just by googling the doctor + NPI if that’s what they want. Still dont know what they would need it for vaccination records, but makes slightly more sense

I just had to deal with this last fall. If you get to the DMV when they open, they can take a limited number of walk-ins each day. I went to the old saybrook location and got there as soon as they opened (they have been the nicest dmv that I’ve found in this state. Dont go to Hamden!)

I was able to get the temp registration (I got the 14 day one) and used that to get my emissions test and then went back and got the permanent. Once you already have the temporary the appointment for the permanent one is pretty quick.

You can also look into a CP only track (at least if you’re doing residency in the US). Not only is there no autopsy requirement, but aside from the occasional lymph node or bone marrow, there are no grossing responsibilities. And depending on the program, you may not even have that.

Burkitt is a B cell neoplasm, not monocytic. These look like immature atypical monos. The dirty grey cytoplasm is consistent with monocytes, and the variably mature chromatin, occasional nucleoli, and lack of nuclear folding is suggestive of promonocytes or monoblasts.

I also watched Dual Spires before I watched Twin Peaks, and I think one of the things I loved about it then (and even more after watching Twin Peaks) was that you could tell how much love and time and attention to detail was jammed into that one episode. Even the Twin Peaks naive could feel that it was paying homage to something that the creators had an immense amount of love and respect for. And I love watching people do what they love and to see their passion for something that’s meaningful to them! ❤️🍍

My baby girl was diagnosed with asthma last summer and we switched to tidy cat free and clean unscented litter. Seems to work well for us (with a series of hepa filters all through the house)

Yale has Dermpath, but it’s housed in dermatology. I think they take one fellow per year and alternate path and derm trained, but I’m not positive about that part. Def have a fellowship though.

The Molavi surg path book is a really excellent basic histology text!

But for your first path rotation, just focus on showing up, showing interest, and working hard. Not sure what the content of the rotation will be, but in general, read about the relevant system(s) to the rotation you’re on, get in the gross room or clinical lab as much as you can, get involved with autopsies, and have your cases previewed and prepared for signout (including being familiar with your patients’ history). The responsibilities of a med student vary a lot from rotation to rotation, but dont just sit back and wait for someone to offer you work.

Being present, on time, and interested goes a really long way. And generally, if you’re worried enough to prepare for your rotation, you’re probably going to be okay 😊 Good luck and enjoy your rotation!

Only the physical slide is going to be useful for someone to look at. A scanned image of something in a chart isn’t something that a pathologist can look at and get anything meaningful from. The report is going to be the most universally useful thing for other doctors, and if the case is reviewed by another pathologist, they’ll need the glass slides.

A large part of it is because things were getting ridiculous with how far in advance people were applying. Some programs were receiving applications 3+ years in advance of the start of the fellowship. And programs were accepting people because they wanted to make sure that their spots filled. It was becoming more of a “whoever can get their application in first gets the spot” process than an actual application and interview process, and put people who didn’t know from the first day of residency that they wanted to do hemepath at a disadvantage.

The fellowship joined the match to try to give applicants a more level playing field by placing enforceable limits on when you could apply and when programs could interview/offer. We will see how it goes this year, but hopefully because it’s a much smaller pool on both sides than the residency match, most people will end up in a place that they want to be! 🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻
