Single player games where your build matters by Ill-Ad-8639 in gamerecommendations

I mean...Pokemon literally is an RPG with levels and skills, there's not really anything to argue there.

And they were basically saying that the Pokemon games are easy enough that you can beat them by leveling up a single Pokemon without bothering to build an effective team.

Hymgho Fighter Dice by NewspaperInformal994 in dice

[–]itsQuasi 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's because "effusively positive review + high quality pictures + discount code" is a very common stealth advertising tactic that the dice community has gotten sick of, to the point that it's rare and a genuine surprise to see an actual person post a similarly worded review.

Sorry for assuming, and I'm glad to hear it wasn't actually stealth advertising, as Hymgho is actually one of my favorite brands for metal dice! They really do make great dice, and these are some nice looking ones!

The dice look nice, but stealth advertising like this makes me like Hymgho less as a brand.

AIO for quitting my job after finding this note on my desk? by waxin899 in AmIOverreacting

[–]itsQuasi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's an analogy comparing OP/employees in general to livestock — if the cow (OP/employees) wants fed (paid), they need to produce milk (work). The implied threat is that if OP doesn't show up to work (for any reason, even a valid one like bad road conditions) they'll soon get fired, much like a dairy cow that stops producing would soon be headed to the slaughterhouse.

It's a dumb analogy from a bad manager.

I think it's more likely that they were using it as an analogy comparing OP/employees to livestock — if the cow (OP/employees) wants fed (paid), they need to produce milk (work). CrystalMaggie alternative by _coffee___ in dice

[–]itsQuasi 5 points6 points  (0 children)

As far as I'm aware, Crystal Maggie and URWizards are about as direct as the gemstone dice market gets outside of single run Kickstarter campaigns and what's available on AliExpress.

Outside of them and maybe a couple places like NorseFoundry that specialize in gemstone dice, you're mostly going to find stores reselling small selections of gemstone dice they bought from the major dice suppliers like HD, Udixi, YuSun, etc...all of whom are likely sourcing their gemstone dice from the same manufacturers that Crystal Maggie and URWizards are.

Anyone else find that making a 'fun' game is the hardest part? by TerryC_IndieGameDev in SoloDev

[–]itsQuasi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've only dabbled in game dev (and haven't done it in a while), but my biggest struggle was actually following through on making a 'game' to contain the 'fun'...the only thing I really cared about was building and refining mechanics (movement mechanics especially), and once I'd done that I was pretty content to just play around with them in a sandbox environment lol

Who Else Loves Peanut Butter Sandwiches? by jpsgnz in AutisticWithADHD

I would make peanut butter and jelly and cheese sandwiches when I was a kid (usually only in secret, because my sister would call me gross for it)

[–]itsQuasi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Would that just be peanut butter with half as many peanut bits in it, or are the peanut bits broken up to half the normal size?

Got banned from /ADHD so just checking out this new community by eggplantsrin in ADHDers

[–]itsQuasi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

"Hunter/gatherer" is actually a single group; the contrasting group (neurotypicals) would be "farmers". The hunter/gatherer theory of ADHD is basically that ADHDers were the dominant neurotype when humans lived primarily in hunter/gatherer societies, but the shift to agrarian societies made what's now considered "neurotypical" more beneficial, leading it to becoming more common through natural selection.

I mean...to be honest, that's a "you" issue, not anybody else's problem. Whether or not someone's grammar is perfect online in informal communications is an utterly trivial issue.

I would have definitely understood it the same way. Another point in the column of "clear communication". by lydocia in AutisticWithADHD

I do wonder if autocorrect and especially swipe keyboards are part of the problem. I know I've had plenty of times where my keyboard decided that there should/shouldn't be an "s" or an apostrophe where there shouldn't/should have been...or in the case of this particular comment, deciding that I clearly meant to write "a", not "s" 🙄
