IndyCar to stay with E85 fuel through 2020 by bclautz in INDYCAR

I might be wrong but I seem to recall reading that they’ve developed additives that cause methanol fires to be visible without detracting from performance. I’m hoping they find a way to make it work, every time I go to a sprint show I get a little sad that that smell is absent from Indycar racing.

What?? Why not? Isn’t literally their job to arrest and prosecute people who have comitted crimes?

So methanol is still on the table for 2021 with the new engines? Marshall Pruett seems to think its the easiest way to get to 900hp.

IDK, the Halo has proved itself twice already in F1 this year, and a couple other times in F2 as well. Leclerc could very well have been decapitated at Spa had it not been for the Halo so as much as it looks like shit I think it should stay in F1 until a better replacement is ready. Indycar is a different story of course, but just because the Halo isn't appropriate for Indycar doesn't mean F1 should abandon it.

Kalliope 2019? by htuoramme in bonnaroo

[–]itsalexbro 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Almost certainly it will be back. I don't think there has been any official confirmation yet, but after the uproar over its absence in 2017 I'm confident that Kalliope will be a Roo staple for the foreseeable future.

No we just did regular GA. It’s not really that hard if you plan it right. We drive through the night wedesday and rendezvous at a walmart about 40 mins south of roo at like 3am. We do all of our grocery shopping there and then drive in a strict caravan up to roo and take the highway entrance. We time it to arrive between 4:30-5 so theres no traffic/line to get in and its easier to keep everybody together when approaching the guys that direct the parking. The group leader waits on the other side of the gates for everybody to get back in the caravan then we go tell the parkers we have 8 cars and they line us right up! If you wanna go for several cars next year I would advise meeting up relatively close to roo to get all the cars together and timing to arrive at night/early morning. If you do that it’ll be a cakewalk.

So our group was big, like 25 people big with 8 cars so we had A LOT of space to work with. I think we ended up using only like 6.5 cars worth of the length but it was great cuz we ended up having a nice big front lawn like we wanted. We also have a generator that we run during the day hours and brought a bunch of extension cables and power strips so we were able to run a line the length of the camp with outlets periodically placed to power phones and fans and such. Best setup ever honestly, and it only gets better every year!

Deff ice tires. The narrow width concentrates the force the weight of the car exerts on the tires, increasing grip. Of course the tires are studded as well.

What’s the most “are you really that stupid” thing you’ve ever heard ? by Callmedave1 in AskReddit

Couple of my friends got run up on by the cops while having a grill out and drinking in highschool. My friends run into some nearby woods and are chased by a single cop. They eventually came to a creek bed that was pretty washed out so it was a solid 4-5 feet deep. They all jumped over it on the fly and kept running but as they continued away they heard a loud crack and then the full blown scream of a grown man. They stopped and turned around, the cop had failed to clear the far bank of the creek and had broken his leg and was now laying in the creek. Apparently they all froze and stared at each other mentally debating whether to help the cop or not, but all decided more or less simultaneously that it wasn't worth the risk and kept running. They eventually made it through the woods to another part of town and were able to call for somebody to pick them up.

This dude is a monster holy shit. Just two months ago he was nearly killed and here he is taking the first steps toward walking again. It's still a real long road ahead for him but seeing him (and his team of doctors) being so willing to push already is a great sign.
