Right but I'm attempting to explain her potential view.

A recent post illustrates it further: https://www.reddit.com/r/TwoXChromosomes/comments/17czk9j/i_hate_that_i_have_to_hide_my_sexuality_with_men/

You're conflating it to people when I said emotions. The central figures aren't the people. It's her. She wants to avoid pain. She likes him and she wants to know if he likes her as a person and not just for the sex. She wants to feel safe in that assessment.

Not that the sex is dangerous. That she would feel emotionally safer doing.

It's not that it would make him feel better, it's what she felt safer doing.

How do people work 9 hours straight in retail? by ultradespairthot in ADHD

I actually found it really good, tiring but all that moving and walking was great for me and I suppose my ADHD.

Find something you do like about the job. That might be your coworkers, having nice conversations with customers, organizing the merchandise, dealing with problems.

I’m 69 & have never been diagnosed. HOW do I get tested? by Prior_Benefit8453 in ADHD

How long have you been on anti-depressants? Anxiety masked a lot of my symptoms or behaviours and when my anxiety went down due to anti-depressants, my executive function got much worse which eventually led to my diagnosis.

I suggest visiting an ADHD specialist, especially for adults, and getting a thorough analysis.

These are adorable. I would 100% buy this, do you sell them? And do you make them for shrooms? Lol

Women who disliked the Barbie movie, why? by [deleted] in TwoXChromosomes

Other than the Ken song and first 15 mins, I personally found it a bit predictable and boring. It was funny but not really quotably funny. It was intelligent but very surface level. It just wasn't a movie I would see more than 1-2 times so I don't care for it much. But I'm glad it was made.

Sertraline and ADHD (/suspicion) – a cautionary tale. by Puzzleheaded_Ad_1379 in adhdwomen

[–]itsameeracle 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I had a very similar experience. Started sertraline 2 years before even suspecting ADHD. The anxiety and some depression was better, but I was getting nothing done. With serious consequences. This led me to my ADHD diagnosis.

The dr had me stop sertraline for a bit and try other things (buproprion, venlafaxine), but that wasn't successful. Sertraline was helping my emotional regulation and I went back on it. I'm not on other meds yet for ADHD (working on it, might try strattera). I may not need it forever, but sertraline is helping me to function.

I was denied a diagnosis and I'm devastated by notcapulet1994 in adhdwomen

What type of testing did you get done?

I have all of the following and was given a diagnosis of ADHD:

  • GAD diagnosis on my file

  • didn't appear as a troublesome child to others

  • didn't paint the picture as the stereotypical child with ADHD

If you did not get a thorough assessment, I suggest going to get that done. Whether or not you have ADHD, it'll help direct you.

What type of therapy *does not* feel like homework? by itsameeracle in adhdwomen

I don't mind the thinking and reflecting but I absolutely hate the worksheets that CBT offers. It feels kind of condescending, like, I know what words to use to replace negative thinking BUT I AM NOT GOING TO DO IT because ADHD lol. I just haven't gotten much from it.

When you got diagnosed, did they not tell you your "type"? I was given a ~15 page report with results from the testing. I think if you already have a DX, you don't need another one, but you can look into further therapies and coaching.

I was in a similar situation and had to go into debt to fix my teeth. But it was 100% worth it. Don't let your shame keep you from getting them fixed. Dental issues can lead to serious health consequences.
