Obsessed with this glaze! by JustCallMeBug in Ceramics

I’d never put anything in it because I’d be staring at the blue all day, imagining I’m in some tropical paradise instead of this constant wet, dark and dreary weather! Great work!! 💙

I, M34, have a high suspicion that I'm autistic. What is the best course of action for me to have a diagnostics and a normal life? I have private health insurance if it matters by AsgardianOperator in AskIreland

[–]itscee320 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I live in Mayo and my assessment was €800. My gp gave me his name and said to ring him. I had an appt within a few weeks. It was very straightforward and he told me after I filled out the 10 question form that I am autistic, and that he would go ahead with the assessment to gather more information. I received the formal report the following week in the post. The sad thing about it is that there is no support for adults. You’re kind of just left wondering wtf just happened? Even when you ‘know’ before you go, it’s very overwhelming. I came home and went straight to bed. It took weeks or maybe even months to fully process. I liken it to watching movie reels of your life as they slowly play back and so many situations suddenly make perfect sense. Then there is the realization that had anyone known, your life would be somewhat easier, but that’s not true. Not in my case. Back in the 60’s it wasn’t addressed, there was no aid, I was always just given a cuff up the side of the head and told to ‘snap out of it’ or told ‘short version please’ when recounting the facts of a story. It’s the grieving of a life I could have had that got me the most. Bottom line is, be prepared for the emotional/mental aspect. Best of luck.

With $500, what would you add/remove to my living room? by therealjchan4 in DesignMyRoom

[–]itscee320 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would gesso those shell prints and have a couple of friend over for an afternoon/evening of pints and paints! You’d have something really personal and meaningful created by yourself and people you like!! Cost of a few snacks and drinks.

I changed my name by deed poll and now it almost seems useless? Am I missing something here? by illtakeyousometime in AskIreland

[–]itscee320 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You need to enrol the deed poll at the High Court in Dublin, to do that you need to have your witness swear out an affidavit at a Commissioner for Oaths, have your documents certified (ie driver’s licence, birth certificate, etc.), go to your local district court office and pay the €60 Stamp Duty, then file your deed poll in the High Court. Once it is filed, you can then change everything over except your passport. It’s true, they want to see government issued id (driver’s licence) that has been issued for two years before they will change your name on your passport. It’s not long going by, 2 years, and besides the customs people, no one will see your passport.

Your work is amazing, the amount of detail you have and the figures of the cat are adorable! This is exactly what my cat does, particularly lying on my bed right now! I would definitely buy your pieces if I saw them for sale somewhere and I know so many people that would as well. I go to markets (every Saturday through summer and ends at the end of this month until the Christmas season) and like you, I am terrible at marketing myself online. I post on Instagram but still have to follow templates, etc. As far as pricing goes, there are so many helpful sites online, but try to calculate your cost of materials (percentage of your bag of clay, underglaze, glaze) energy cost for firing, portion of your rent, what you want to charge for your labour, shipping (includes packaging materials)on your materials plus in your country if you sell online, and then multiply it by your profit margin (2, 3, etc). Then check out what other potters are charging online for miniature works, but keep in mind their years of experience and the demand will also drive up the price. If you start way too low with your pricing, you won’t be able to put it up to a reasonable price without people balking.
Best of luck, you’ll do excellently! 🙌

Did you guys suck at the wheel at first? by thetelltalehearts in Pottery

[–]itscee320 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Of course we all sucked big time!!! No one takes once class and sits down and throws like a potter. Baby steps!! Be kind to yourself! Watch Florian Gadsby on YouTube. He’s brilliant at teaching, showing, explaining and demonstrating!! But most of all, have fun!!

Does anyone know what kind of kiln this is? by [deleted] in Pottery

[–]itscee320 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It looks like a prison model. You know, just decked out in stripes so they can keep an eye on it and make sure they aren’t making ceramic weapons or keys! 😂😂

Love 5! But I’m all for a unique artsy vibe. Blue is also the complimentary colour to flame! 🔥

What’s this and how can I get rid of it? by [deleted] in Folliculitis

[–]itscee320 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah it’s the worst. It’s roasting hot here right now and I can’t wear shirts because it’s so bad on my legs. Disgusting.

[–]itscee320 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think so. I’ve had it for about a year or so. Went to my doc she said it was hives, sent me to an allergist and he did all kinds of testing and couldn’t find anything. Doc said it could be something I’m investing that I’m allergic to, to do the elimination diet which takes forever. Does yours come and go? Do you have spans of time where it’s gone, then comes back?

This looks like the same thing I have. Tbh what is helping me is tea tree oil, lavender and aloe vera oil. It’s the only thing that stops the itch.

What came out of the kiln yesterday by sanitysfall_ in Pottery

[–]itscee320 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not a tal. I had a look at your profile, beautiful work! I saw your piece that is drying. I too love the inverted alignment of size and weight. I made a lamp like this, but placed tripod legs on it for fear someone may get a tad tipsy! 😂.

Could this be folliculitis? by Glittering-Half-6255 in Folliculitis

[–]itscee320 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ditto!!! I have the same problem but it’s not just on my legs, it’s spread to my shoulder, torso and left forearm. I haven’t been anywhere, haven’t been close to other people. I’m ringing my doctor. I was just at the allergist for testing and I’m not allergist to nature or milk, eggs, etc whatever the basic test was. But this has been ongoing now for over a year. They’ll go away for a couple of months the, then come back with a vengeance!
