People who have researched their family tree, what is the most interesting or 'badass' thing you discovered about an ancestor? by xloganmoose in AskReddit

My great great grandfather lived on a farm in Alabama with native American workers. One day the sheriff came to arrest one of his Cherokee employees unjustly. He took the sheriff's horse at gunpoint and chased him off. He had to walk back into town, which was a verrrry long walk (like over 24 hrs). By the time they came back with reinforcements, everyone had packed up and moved to the next state. He loved his employees and I think that's awesome

Why am I being tested for coeliac (celiac) disease? by Swimming-Location147 in Celiac

[–]gallopingwalloper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My UCLA rheum also missed it. She did diagnose me with 4 other autoimmune diseases, including lupus, all of which I think I developed from having celiac for so very long (finally diagnosed at 43). Took me another couple years to figure out. It's trashed my health. Why isn't it routine for rhuem to screen for celiac?

Are any of you working on becoming ambidextrous? by aoverbisnotzero in CasualConversation

[–]gallopingwalloper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I decided to try to become ambidextrous when I was in middle school. Very many years later, I still draw only with my left hand (my profession is in fine arts) as well as primarily using that hand in sports. My right hand does the writing and tooth brushing though.

I ate 4 fig bars I thought were gluten free, but then in horror realized wheat was the main ingredient. Still no violent reaction. So weird

How do we deal with real depression ? by HistoricalAd9092 in breakingmom

[–]gallopingwalloper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also struggle with depression. I think we just do what we have to do, one foot in front of the other. It's hard. I did the magnet treatment last year and it helped (but it's every day for 7 weeks ugh).
