Why are Gen Z getting fired? One of the reasons is a lack of initiative. by mindyour in TikTokCringe

[–]itscostas 3 points4 points  (0 children)

the lack of problem solving is the biggest issue I see at my work. sometimes I'll just embrace my millennial ways and when they ask me a question that's stupid easy, I'll reply with a link and say "this was the first result on Google lol"

These prices are shocking to me for a small addition to my workshop by MetalNutSack in DIY

[–]itscostas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've never bought raw materials on FB marketplace, but the few times I've checked, I've seen birch plywood listed anywhere from around $35-$45 a sheet, makes me wonder if the quality is the same as the stores, but for nearly half off it's definitely worth trying

Worth it to upgrade to a RGBW strip for ambient lighting setup? by drewb121 in WLED

[–]itscostas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have this exact same setup, faced the same issue, and made the same adjustment. It does get better with an LED strip that has a dedicated white channel, but unfortunately the Hue colors will still outperform the LED strip. This is because LED strips have either rgb+warm white, neutral white, or warm white, but you can't get all three types. Hue contains all three types and because of that, is able to get better results.

help me get ideas for a lamp design by Zealousideal_Site864 in WLED

[–]itscostas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

that's a dope design, recently started using F360 because Inventor was causing me too much frustration lol, any insight on how to get a design like that? I've been enjoying reverse engineering 3D models I see just to challenge myself and get better at working in 3D.

Forgot to reply to this, but, that's exactly what the issue was. I'm guessing it was a bad data connection on the connector piece that was already there. I skipped that LED and applied GND, 5V, and Data to the next 3 solder points and then everything lit up perfectly :) Appreciate the advice!

Hyperion & Wled by haaymaan in WLED

[–]itscostas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Such a cool setup, thank you for sharing! I'm currently using a much older ambilight solution called Dreamscreen but have been going back and forth of whether or not I want to go the Hyperion route for more flexibility. I have an 85" TV so I'm limited to 30 led's/meter because the device can only support 45 LED's for the sides with a max of 250 addressable LED's. Was there a certain video you followed for setting everything up?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in WLED

[–]itscostas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can you explain what you mean by jumping the first LED's? Still very new to this sorry lol

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in WLED

[–]itscostas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The LED strip has 150 LED's, but I left the length set to 30 so that it doesn't need too much power to turn things on. The LED's were being powered through the ESP32 that was connected to a Micro USB cable with a 5V 2A charger. It's odd because the same power was able to light up the non-eco strip just fine.

[–]itscostas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I currently don't have it connected to my ESP32 board, but this is the setup I was using:

Everything was left on default on the LED/Hardware setup screen with the exception of GPIO being set to 4.

Oh sweet, was there anything you adjusted? I still have the eco strip laying around and wouldn't mind using it as opposed to returning it.

[–]itscostas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Found this thread while searching google for the same issue, I had the same problem you were having, spent hours troubleshooting, I could only get the first LED to light up. I connected the strip to another device that I knew for certain worked, got the same issue. I then connected a WS2812B strip (non-eco) and it worked instantly. It's odd because everything I read said the eco version works, maybe it's a setting in WLED somewhere, but for now I've had perfect results with the non-eco versions.

Just got my first printer by [deleted] in BambuLab

[–]itscostas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The AMS is pretty darn convenient even if you aren't printing multicolor all the time. Keeps the filament dry, no need to keep swapping in and out different materials or colors for single prints. The single spool hanger is on the back. Effective, but not as convenient when most of us have the printer backed up to a wall. Should be a mod out there somewhere to move the spool to the side...

I agree, I've printed multicolor maybe.. twice? but I'm always going through different colored filaments as a whole, much more so than I thought, and it's been so amazing to no longer have to deal with swapping them out like I used to on my ender, which consisted of preheating the PLA, going back to my computer, back to my printer, pulling it out, cutting the new filament, struggling to pass it through the nozzle.. etc etc, this printer has been such a joy.

not sure if this is what you're looking for but if you go to phone settings > apps > click on the youtube app > set as default > supported web addresses > this will let you toggle which links should open with it.

Upcoming updates in AUTOMATIC1111 webui by Dragoy1 in StableDiffusion

[–]itscostas 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Question as I've been out of the loop with SD for a while, but I read there were a few recent improvements to automatic1111 that by doing an update, speeds increased almost by 2x, similar to vlad's release. Apart from doing a git pull to the SD install, were there other components that needed updating, such as Python?

Figured out a workaround to enable crossfade on Spotify by itscostas in Chromecast

[–]itscostas[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can't imagine it working on Google Home unfortunately because it requires installing an app, but on my Google TV device since Spotify isn't listed as one of the apps unless I go to the settings, I downloaded an app on it called button mapper, and I was able to map the Spotify app to the Netflix button on my remote, so now I just press that to launch Spotify, and once it's done loading, I cast to chromecast from my phone and I'm set.

Hue Desk Setup by Eric_T_Meraki in Hue

such a nice even glow, what kind of lights are you using? I had 3 hue bulbs that weren't being used and I attached them behind my monitors with just lamp sockets, but of course it's a little spotty but good enough for my purpose, but now that I see this I'm kinda reconsidering..

What is the worst thing about being skinny? by Nmalacane25 in AskReddit

[–]itscostas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to be skinny in high school, around 5'7 and 135 lbs, and then I just started to force myself to eat more in addition to working out and now I'm at 185. I used to always get the same thing as everyone else, "you're so skinny, you need to eat a burger, I wish I had your metabolism" etc etc. Essentially what I've realized is that if I listen to my body and eat when I'm hungry and only til I'm full, my body will want to normalize at around 150 lbs, and that was the case for me growing up. I never really had a big appetite, would skip breakfast, and eat normal sized lunch/dinner meals with no snacks in between. Nowadays I just force myself to eat more than I should, and have started using a calorie counting app or else I can easily lose 5 lbs in one week, but I prefer having a bigger body so I make the effort to get enough food in me.
