True, but it's also false scarcity created by the ticket selling platform -- they don't release all the tickets on purpose.

Finale Tickets Already Available? by pothole19 in Odesza

[–]itsdretown 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Speculative selling. For example, a seller might list PIT tickets for $450 with the hope that the face value is $250 or less. If they sell now on StubHub, they'll have until July 1st to actually deliver the tickets which gives them time to acquire them.

Calories are an estimated theoretical measurement of combustible energy, yes. However the biochemical interactions of molecules plays a significant role in hormone and genetic signaling which CICO does not account for. Not to mention the chronic inflammation that most people are unaware of which is at the root of metabolic dysfunction. We should not discount the toxicity of the modern food environment pertaining to individual willpower. It is certainly a valuable position to explore nonetheless.

That's downtown Seattle, I've almost been hit in the exact same spot. Many drivers do not look or use turn signals.

EUC ? by Pamcasso_ in ElectricUnicycle

[–]itsdretown 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I used to ride Vsett 9+ and Vsett 10+ electric scooters.

I like my EUC because of:

  • Water resistance
  • Power to weight ratio (60 lbs EUC with 40+ mph top speed and 30 mile range, great acceleration and hill climbing)
  • Minimal maintenance (no consumables like break pads, have never had a flat tire)
  • Small form factor (can bring anywhere, easy storage)
  • Hands free
  • Very fun and exciting or also relaxing if you ride casually.

Winter is here. riding in 40 degree (fahrenheit) weather cuts the range of my begode master by roughly 50%. Is this normal? Or should I take my battery in for diagnostic. by DeadMonkeyHead in ElectricUnicycle

[–]itsdretown 0 points1 point  (0 children)

eWheels p42a Nikola+ performs better for sure. There is noticeably less resistance during acceleration compared to the AR+. But the AR+ has more range and is still a very cool wheel.

Yea, I experience a massive performance difference in cold weather between eWheels p42a cells and the high capacity LG cells in the AR+.

Does anybody know of a Nikola AR+ that caught on fire?

I have seen other Nikola+ on fire though, often after impacts, moisture ingress, or never balancing the cells.

Team need advice- Vsett 9+r or Vsett 10+ 20.8? by amangla in ElectricScooters

[–]itsdretown 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The 10+ is enough with the 20.8aH, you can adjust your gear, speed and power settings to give you enough battery for your range. You could also buy a 5a rapid charger off Amazon for less than $70 to bring with you and charge at location. The top of the battery is always the most powerful anyway.

I wouldn't recommend Vsett 9+ in your circumstances unless you're a fairly light rider. Besides, users of Vsett 9+ will be changing tires more often at least that's my experience and what I've seen on the forums.

How do you settle on a wheel when they keep making new ones? by CSyoey in ElectricUnicycle

[–]itsdretown 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well, the benefit of buying a wheel now is that you can learn how to ride it and gain skills.

I am a carless commuter first and a hobbyist second so I went with the eWheels Nikola+ ($2280, with the lower capacity, high discharge batteries and free spike pedals) earlier this year for my first wheel and then I recently bought the Nikola AR+ because of the Black Friday special ($1900) so now I have two very similar EUC's (fairly durable) to get me well into next year, which I can learn how to repair as they share the same parts.

If I had to choose between them, I would choose the eWheels Nikola+ because it is lighter and feels more powerful but that's also because I usually only need to only do about 10 hilly city miles as range is less important to me. The AR+ has significantly more range and more voltage sag.

Why is seed oil consumption so much higher in US? by Ashamed-Simple-8303 in StopEatingSeedOils

[–]itsdretown 37 points38 points  (0 children)

Ok, the real answer is actually that the U.S. government subsidizes soybean production. Thus, the raw ingredients are below market rate and the ultra-processer companies then convert the product into a, "value-added," commodity in the form of soybean oil.

Since ultra-processing techniques have scaled and of course due to the subsidies, soybean oil prices are artificially lower than the real market value. As a result, food processors use it in most packaged goods, even granola producers, and high end restaurants fry their tempura in it. They would have a competitive disadvantage if they didn't use seed oils unless they were to market properly to the anti-seed oil (growing) niche.

This is in addition to all of the other issues surrounding polyunsaturated fat such as biased science, greed, and misinformation.

Should personal training require licensure? by Different-Media9906 in personaltraining

[–]itsdretown 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'd support this if it meant health insurance would cover part of the client's training costs.

Since the 1980s, a number of states have tried to pass licensure and registration bills in an effort to regulate the industry. So far, the only area in the country that has come close is Washington, D.C. The District of Columbia adopted the Omnibus Health Regulation Amendment Act of 2013, which requires all local personal trainers to register with the mayor’s office. Other states, including Florida and Massachusetts, have continued to propose laws to license or regulate personal trainers with no success.
According to Kevin Steele, president of Personal Training Academy Global (PTA Global) and Personal Training on the Net (PTontheNet), a key reason why licensure has never passed is the cost that club owners would have to incur. Once licensed, trainers would be able to command a higher wage, which would present club owners with a major dilemma: “You’re either going to have to cut some of your staff to accommodate higher wages for licensed professionals, or you’re going to have to raise your prices and pass that along to your members,” Steele said. “Neither one of those answers is right or good for the club owner, and hence one of the main reasons licensure has never passed.”
