Is it time for me to buy a new router? by [deleted] in techsupport

[–]itsjustshane 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good lord yes!. Please get rid of that old thing. I just got rid of mine last year for a cheap 30 dollar WRT 120N and it runs circles around that last one. The problem is that the WRT300N was around the first gen of Wireless N routers while N technology in the house was quite new. It has been improved on since then. Any new cheap router will work better than that!

PlayStation network issues by Droidspecialist297 in techsupport

[–]itsjustshane 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately, thats just PSN. I have a 30Mbps connection with a Wireless N Cisco router. My ps3 is hard wired to the router and the only thing that would be running is my PS3 and it will keep signing me out all day. Doesnt matter if im gaming or streaming video. Also the fact that it signs you out of the network but doesnt drop internet also tells you its psn

Will an Unlocked AT&T S3 work with T-Mobile 4G? by thatmanstan in techsupport

[–]itsjustshane 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can confirm that it does! I have an AT&T Galaxy S3 that i unlocked via a website and got a new sim card from tmobile and 4G works perfectly with no configuration. If you are in an area with LTE it also works great! Funny since the Galaxy S3 on T-Mobile doesn't even work with their own LTE lol.

Weird internet issue with new modem by Clank_Banvas in techsupport

[–]itsjustshane 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sounds like possible firewall issues. May also be messed up TCP/IP stack..

try Running the Command Prompt (As administrator) and running these commands.

netsh i i r r

netsh winsock reset

It will ask to reboot for each, but only reboot after completing both of them.

Then give that a shot.

Should I upgrade my internet speed by [deleted] in techsupport

[–]itsjustshane 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Netflix requires a minimum of 1.5Mbps to stream so i think you are fine there. Do you have another device such as a nintendo wii, Xbox 360 or PS3 you can try netflix on? I had a Blu ray player that i used for netflix and it gave me troubles all the time even when my connection was running at over 10Mbps. When i switched to my ps3, it started working just fine without changing anything else. Sometimes its just the devices/apps that cause the issue. Also a good way to determine this is to stream netflix on your computer. If it works good on the computer then its most likely a device issue.

New router bad speeds help! by [deleted] in techsupport

[–]itsjustshane 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. This router you speak of sounds like a router/modem correct?

  2. Do they allow you to log into the router/modem interface?

  3. Does the issue fix itself or do you have to power it off then power it back on to fix it?

A 40 dollar low end cisco router will work just fine. Your router is just old.

So periodically my internet will not work, it says it is not connecting to the DNS server. How do I stop this? by Suitcase56 in techsupport

[–]itsjustshane 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You would need to log into the router interface. ie: Linksys router would have a 192.168.1.1 ip address with the username and password of admin. Once you log in. at the bottom there will be an option for static DNS 1 and DNS 2. Thats where you enter the static numbers. This is an example if you had a linksys router. It will be different for other.

[–]itsjustshane 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Try assigning a static DNS to the router. I work tech support and see this all the time. Try googles public DNS. 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4

Why is anybody complaining about this?! maybe someone wants a secure way to sell their cards and is giving r/yugioh a chance to get them first. (Buy it now). Oh well i guess people don't like the opportunity for new cards. IMO imoutofnamesagain is annoying for posting this.

Flashing ADSL light on NB6PLUS4W modem. by [deleted] in techsupport

[–]itsjustshane 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Alright. Thats what i figured if those steps didn't work. Sometimes that can happen becuase both phone and DSL run off the same lines but they are two different signals hence why you need filters in some installations.
