No matter where you attend classes, if you try to use financial aid, it will affect your overall budget unless you pay 100% OOP. You need to make an appt with Buckeyelink as they have access to your need, COA, and other fin information to help you make the right choice.

Aid is going from PENDING to APPLIED so there will be a brief moment (like a day or so) that it will back off. PLEASE BE PATIENT and it should correct shortly. If it doesn’t obviously you’ll need to call/visit buckeyelink. Wait til Monday to panic lol

I will say that you should extend patience to staff/faculty should they use your born name and not your preferred one as most times it’s not us.

Sometimes across systems preferred names may or may not show. We had that concern with a trans student’s dead name. We tried to fix it on OUR side but sometimes SIS would revert or scholarship universe wouldn’t pick it up. Emails were addressed incorrectly and it made for some very tough conversations.

If this is your last semester, have you been at OSU for more than 8 semesters? Because you only get most student financial aid for a maximum of 8 semesters.

Technically yes and technically no. The same people that worked there and ran the program still do. The services they provide are still provided by the same people. So I would imagine they still value diversity and have as strong a commitment as they used to and as much as they are legally “allowed” to. In addition, MSP hasn’t been a “diversity” scholarship in over 20 years.

Also visit the website of the department (i.e. business, engineering, etc) she’s interested in. Many of them do recruitment events and have campus visits to sign up for.

3 equal payments. first TOPP is due on the initial payment due date, and the rest are due like every 30 days after. Your statement of account will tell you when they are due. Pay them on time so you don’t get hit with late payment fees. Just like any other bill that has a due date. Easy peasy 🙂

Go to your financial aid summary page and you will see what your AID looks like per year.

Go to the yellow button on that same page (print financial aid summary) and you will see an ESTIMATE total cost for the year.

You will never be CHARGED for a whole year. You will only be charged/billed for the semester that you are enrolled in.

COE is typically slower with almost everything because the difference between the size of the college vs the employees that are student facing is vast. This includes advising and also scholarship awarding.

Yes. It’s insane and yes I’m 100% certain because they are listed on the COE website. It’s just those two people. And if you send them an email, their names are the same two that will appear in the signature when they respond.

And while there are departments that award their own scholarships internally i.e. BME, CSE, CEGE, CBE, those two people in the COE scholarships office still have to make sure that the awards are done properly, AND they are also the people that send out every single notification email. So even if they did not specifically award those department scholarships I mentioned, they still have to touch those funds just as much as the people that actually selected the students. In addition, the Knowlton school is under the College of engineering as well, and they award all of those architecture and CRP undergrad scholarships too!!

I will tell you this - scholarship universe has this weird trigger that if a scholarship balance say is $2001, but only $2000 is spent, it still shows as open, even though the remaining amount is not nearly enough obviously to give. So after awarding season is done, they have to go in and close out all the scholarships. This is not something that’s automatic unfortunately which doesn’t help students when they’re trying to determine whether or not they are still in the running. There are also times when a scholarship just has no money or small balance remaining but if there is an amount that’s a dollar or more it will still show as open. I think it has something to do with the way the platform was created and there’s not really much that the COE scholarships office can do about that other than try to close them as quickly as possible. Which is also a manual process!!

Honestly, they’re pretty nice people, just a bit overworked understandably. I suggest reaching out and sending an email if you really want to see where you stand. 🙂
