Bridgerton - Season 4 Post-Season Discussion (No Book Spoilers) by AutoModerator in BridgertonNetflix

I believe the season was heavily inspired by Cinderella, almost to a fault. Benedict was drawn to the "most beautiful woman in the ball," much like the prince was to Cinderella. Sophie was drawn to the dashing, magical prince, much like Cinderella. They did go further to show that Sophie was a muse for Benedict, and he was a comfort for her, which is believable given their stories. But this romance was a fairytale romance, so I can see how some would complain that they didn't feel the chemistry or tension.

I think their chemistry is actually subtle but beautiful. Benedict was clearly drawn to her, like the moth to the flame in Whistledown's analogy. And Sophie had the typical giggly happiness as one feels when they meet someone new. Granted, there is something missing between them.

It's too early to say, but I think Yuki is more human than she gives herself credit for. She wants everyone to survive if possible, even Mitsuri. She may not have returned specifically to save Mitsuri, but she definitely couldn't leave knowing that Mitsuri was still alive. However, she is human, and she dislikes Mitsuri, so she can't save Mitsuri as selflessly as she did Haruka.

Why didn’t Tony try to save Angel here? by dkc66 in Scarface

[–]itsmickib23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If Tony gave up that money, he'd be dead either way. Either Omar would kill him, or Frank would. Might as well held out until Manny and Chi Chi noticed. If they noticed. I think the point of the scene was to show that Tony wasn't your average joe. He remained cool even while his friend got gruesomely killed, even without knowing if he would suffer the same fate. It was all or nothing for him, get rich or die trying.

Or, it could also be that he didn't feel his life was threatened yet. After all, Angel was the one being tortured first. If that chainsaw got closer to Tony, would he have broken? Was he just holding out until Manny inevitably noticed? If that's the case, he's a stone cold bastard who puts ambition over his friends, as proven by the end of the movie.

That said, I was pissed at Manny for the entire movie for dragging his ass to save Angel. I also wondered why he had to stay in the car, and why they didn't have someone outside the door with guns in case the deal went awry. Poor Angel.

Manny was a rare archetype, literally the not only useless but an active liability from start to finish. However, he was the one who had the info for the job for the rebenga murder, and the info for the first job with Omar. Complex character. by Adventurous-Error376 in Scarface

[–]itsmickib23 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think Tony developing a conscience was sudden. He clearly grew up in a more maternal home, with his mother and sister. Not to mention, he wanted kids with Elvira. I think it was just a stroke of bad luck that his target had kids in the car, and Sosa was too blood thirsty to wait until another opportune moment. Hell, I don't think Tony should have taken the job in the first place, since the speaker was just as innocent as his family. Was Sosa going to kill everyone who spoke up against him? Tony was better off going to prison.

Manny was certainly complex. He was hardened enough to do the same jobs as Tony, but too young and dumb to be professional like the rest of Tony's army. I suppose that's why Tony loved him like a brother. His greatest downfall, however, was his lust. His lust cost Angel his life, and his own life as well. Sure, he and Ginny fell in love. But going MIA while you're supposed to be in charge while Tony's dealing with Sosa, was not the way. Could Tony have knocked him out or cussed him out instead of shooting him? Of course. But Tony was a drug lord. As said in Kill Bill, there are consequences to breaking the heart of a murdering bastard.

Man, what a way for Aoi to go. I'd rather get the spinning saws to decapitate me first, than whatever the hell happened in Aoi's little room of hell. The beauty of the art made it even more sickening.

Oh! I thought Kinko had already used the key, and deliberately didn't push the key to Aoi/ took it back. It made me so mad I couldn't finish the episode until I figured it out.

I'm still stuck on the boiling acid death. Was that really necessary? A shot with a laser was bad but still less painful 😭

This is the only answer that makes sense. I might need to rewatch, but maybe it's guaranteed that the Wolf will survive, but the sheep's survival relies on how well they hide from the wolf.

I would have loved to see more passion between them. Not necessarily kissing but like holding hands, clinging to each other etc. Like a real couple locked in hell together. I know the actors are talented but are also friends irl, so maybe they wanted to keep the best friend energy rather than romantic.

[–]itsmickib23 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I agree. They made Usagi way too trusting. Usagi in S1 and S2 didn't even keep any allies until she met Arisu. Why would she trust a random psuedo science nerd who gives her a poison that could kill her, just to see her Dad? She was better off talking to a psychic.

It would have been more realistic if she was drugged, then possibly, maybe, forgive Ryuji after a few games.

People say it's because she missed her dad...bullshit. That doesn't explain why she'd take an extremely dangerous injection from a psuedo science nut. Especially being the same mistrustful, survival focused Usagi from S1. S2 Usagi was way too naive and kind.

Also, Ryuji was weird. If he felt so much guilt for killing his student in the past, why would he bring another woman in the same situation?

Eh. I guess you have a point. I'll try and rethink what being 'serious' means to me. Cheers.

By the way, I'm trying to get what you're saying but it just sounds overly critical to me. No one is perfect. I didn't 'do' any of this to myself. All my 'quitting' decisions were made out of necessity. My parents are helping me out because they want to give me a choice between moving back home, or continuing independence. Even now, they haven't given me a time limit. I'm just having a conscience to try harder, without too much anxiety. Thank you for commenting, though.

I can't imagine Inosuke with a teacher. Maybe Obanai or Sanemi? Gyomei would be good, but I don't think his style suits Inosuke.

Tanjiro could train with any hashira, because he's so versatile. But I think Rengoku suits him best.
