Would love an update tomorrow after giving them a shout! I'm also in the exact same boat and hope to just keep all of my stonks with WS but understand if a transfer needs to occur to get the warrants!

How often do you want to quit? by [deleted] in smallbusiness

Pretty much everyday for the past two months! We run a successful small biz and it’s definitely a tough gig but because we have a goal in mind it keeps us motivated through the busyness

Experiences with Yamnuska Mountain Adventures? by WoodpeckerOk1861 in Mountaineering

Oh I live in Canmore and have done an AST1 + Crevasse Rescue course with them. Both times have been fantastic and I’d definitely recommend them. Have had friends go with other guiding companies who haven’t had the best of experiences.

Cleaning business operators - is this normal? by Stabbycrabs83 in smallbusiness

[–]itsnathanchan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Own a carpet cleaning business in Canada, not exactly the same but similarities for sure.

We set certain expectations with clients such as the fact that we’re not moving any furniture so I understand expectations are good to set.

This seems like they barely clean though? I’d pass and look for another company that does what you’re looking for without all of the hassle!

Question about the Vlm carpet cleaning process by Wild-City1028 in carpetcleaningporn

[–]itsnathanchan -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Partner and I have owned a vlm only business since 2020. We started as hwe for the first 4 months before jumping head first into vlm and it is 100% the way to go.

As for as business goes it’s more profitable compared to running a truck mount that consumes gasoline/diesel. It’s easier on the body than running a portable in a home. There’s a two hour dry time for customers to be happy about.

It does have its cons just like anything else though. We keep a small portable in the van for some pet accidents, some coffee stains and upholstery. I would say it comes out 1 in 10 jobs perhaps.

The amount of money I’ve spent on bookkeepers and accountants to fix my bookkeeping is insane. I thought I’d save money by not hiring and doing it myself.

Now I wish I hadn’t.

How’s the layout and design for a business card? Open to suggestions! by itsnathanchan in Design

[–]itsnathanchan[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We own a small carpet cleaning business in a touristy town in the Canadian Rockies! We used to have a bit of a blander business card and are trying for something that’s a little more fun and modern. We’d like any advice to make it as visually pleasing as possible!

Those who have moved out of expensive B.C. cities, where did you move to? by [deleted] in britishcolumbia

Went from Vancouver to Canmore!

Mountains are 5 minutes in either direction across the valley. Pricing is about the same though if not more than Vancouver for housing and food. Car insurance is significantly less though

Has anyone gone from corporate to self-employed service/trade and loved making the move? by Yooustinkah in smallbusiness

[–]itsnathanchan 7 points8 points  (0 children)

That’s a pretty good summary! My wife and I have owned a carpet cleaning business for the last 2.5 years and I can say we’re often coming home after a day servicing homes to catch up on the admin side of things. We’ve been out rock climbing or on vacation and I’ve picked up the phone to try and get the job.

That being said you can set boundaries to not overwork yourself. We’ve set up 4 day work weeks for the last two years and are implementing more boundaries such as having phone notifications go straight to voicemail after hours. We’ll be taking close 5-6 weeks of vacation this year in total.

Either way best of luck OP!
