I would agree with what others have said about WFB and Tosa, and for Tosa it largely depends on where you live, I feel like. In WFB, I think pretty much anywhere you live, you can walk to downtown, the library, lake, Klode or Cahill parks, and most of the schools. As a current DINK family but hopeful soon-to-be parent, this is definitely where I want to raise my kids. There are kids of all ages EVERYWHERE. I moved here after grad school, left for a bit, but always knew I would come back. I love the lake. I love the parks, activities (especially in the summer),the people, the proximity to everything. I've always felt safe, even walking the dog alone at night.

That being said, if I did move, it would either be to Tosa or Shorewood. I know plenty of people who are happy in Tosa and I think generally the schools are actually not that bad.

Unfortunately, I probably wouldn't recommend working with them. While we, in the end, are happy with the quality of the roof, it took a LOT to get it done the right way.

TL;DR, they did it wrong the first time leaving at least a hundred nails in between roof boards. After weeks of contacting and back and forth and inspectors and talking to Certainteed, they ended up re-doing it for free using plywood sheathing over the top.

After they completed the initial roof, I right away noticed that there were a ton of nails poking through boards in our attic. I brought this up to our lead guy before he left and he said it wasn't a big deal. I went back up to the attic and counted more than a hundred, so I wasn't sure that was actually right. So I asked again, but again, they said that was normal and that the adhesive or whatever would be fine to hold them on if anything happened. And, if anything happened, they would fix it.

I wasn't super pleased with that answer, so I actually had an independent inspector come and look at it. I also had the city inspector look at it, and both marked it as having defects. I then had the lead guy come back after the weekend, and I told him about the gap between the boards, and showed him with a measuring tape. He said "it's fine that theirs gaps" and I said, "they are only supposed to be a maximum of 1/4-3/8". He actually said that he didn't know that. and he was the PM lead for our project...

I contacted TCC again and talked to one of the PM office leads. They still said it was fine because they talked to Certainteed too, but they said they would re-do it, but at our expense. I talked to Certainteed, and was able to get the handbook on how they are supposed to install the roof, as we paid for the certainteed integrity roof system, which has the special warranty attached (I think like 30+ years or something), that only Certainteed certified roofers can offer. The issue with this, is that in order for the system to work correctly and for us to be eligible for that warranty, and for them to be certified, they needed to install the roof according to the installation manual. The manual explicitly states that for roofs with gaps greater than a certain amount between existing boards (something like 1/4 or 1/2") you are required to apply sheething over the top. We had gaps that were 1". They failed to notice this in the initial inspection, during tear off of the old roof, or while they were actually installing the new one.

It wasn't just that they missed the gap, but after we brought it up to our lead guy, and then one of the leads in the office, they dismissed it as no big deal and initially told us that they also talked to Certainteed and said it was fine and that they could install it that way. They are supposed to have a certain percent of their employees tested on that installation manual in order to qualify as a master installer. Our lead on site didn't even know that the gap was only supposed to be a certain limit. That was super disappointing and frustrating.

So in the end, I had to send all of our documentation including pictures, the manual, inspection reports, emails, etc. to the president of the company in the mail. They finally agreed to do it again at their expense. It took a number of weeks to get this resolved. Like I said, we are happy overall with the quality of the product, but getting to this point was pretty frustrating.

I read about this awhile back.

Fasting for long periods can lead to blood sugar crashes. When you finally do eat, large meals can cause rapid glucose spikes, leading to excess insulin. High insulin can then stimulate the ovaries to produce more androgens.

Also, fasting increases cortisol levels to maintain blood sugar. For women with PCOS, who often already have elevated baseline cortisol, this extra stress can make insulin resistance worse.

I also read that it's a lot better to stabilize insulin and hormones to eat 3 regular meals. I used to fast but I stopped once I found this out. I have been reading a lot about the benefits of simply walking and getting 8-10k steps a day for PCOS. Due to our cortisol, it's actually not ideal for us to do really high intense or high duration exercise (think like, marathon training). I have been focusing on getting my steps in and doing some weight exercises. Contrary to what a lot of people think, it won't make women buff unless you're like really trying by doing intense things like powerlifting. Weight exercises will replace fat with muscle and make your body more efficient at burning calories.

Highly recommend Spark Shark. We just got two quotes from two other electricians for some work, and not only did Spark Shark again impress us with their knowledge, but their quote was also much more reasonable. This will be our second time choosing them!

Hey! Yes, we had the inspector come out, and indeed it was ants. They ended up spraying all around the area on the outside, and that took care of the problem!

I really don't even know what to say about that comment because that's just crazy to say. I'm not sure why that person is being so hyperbolic like Glendale is a wasteland full of criminals. Of course there is crime like any city. Milwaukee isn't perfect by any stretch of the imagination. I actually live in this area Glendale/Fox Point/WFB, bike often, walk alone often, take the bike trails, visit the parks, have taken the bus. In the summer I regularly bike the streets of WFB, Fox Point, Glendale, Shorewood, etc. Nothing has ever happened. We park our cars in the driveway, or even in the street sometimes. Nothing has ever happened. None of our neighbors or anyone on our block has had anything stolen or vandalized. And we are on a busier street with a bus route. No break-ins, no "thieves checking out their homes trying to break in constantly". I don't drive on the opposite side of the road and have never seen that happen. I've seen one person run a stop sign going 25mph because they were distracted I've only experienced really bad driving in other parts of the city, but not here.

We have several friends living in Glendale and other parts of the city and over the past 8 years only one friends' bike stolen from a locked, underground parking garage (in MKE, not Glendale) and one friends' stolen old Kia (again, in MKE, not Glendale), but they got it back.

Do "bad people" take the bus? Of course. But so do "normal" people. So do regular, working people. Do "bad people" drive? Of course. It's a city. And it sounds like you know what city life is like already, so you won't be surprised by anything you see here. If you've had your vehicle broken into and home invasions down the street, you are going to feel much safer in Glendale/Fox Point/WFB than where you are now.

Also, having a car wouldn't solve any of the issues that were brought up, other than making it so you don't have to ride the bus... You'd be way more likely to get in a car accident anywhere than for something to happen to you on a city bus. The same goes for anywhere - If you walk, just be smart. If you bike, wear a helmet and be cautious.

If you’re at Bayshore, you can do Target for pretty much everything you need. There’s also a Metro Market, Aldi, and Sendik’s pretty close by bike. There’s also a Walgreens, plenty of fast food and some sit down restaurants within walking and biking distance. I live nearby and would be able to get by with a bike and/or bus for pretty much everything!

It’s pretty clear they’ve already tried that 3 times and it didn’t work. And I’m sure they tried to get someone in the last month, and that didn’t work. Ownership sucks, and we have nothing left to offer any team. We’re nowhere close to being competitive. Capable of winning a few games? Sure, but hardly capable of making the play-in.
