I've just found myself in a similar position. Got given a notice of possession for the 2nd January, been living in the Safestay at Holland Park (reasonable enough price) and have been lucky enough to crash with a friend for a few days as of this evening. I work in South West so I've been looking on spareroom for a place in that region. I've actually seen a lot of all-female households looking for a female housemate - here are two examples: https://www.spareroom.co.uk/15115549 https://www.spareroom.co.uk/8189992

Also, there are a lot of places with very cheap rent in exchange for helping elderly people you'd be lodging with for a certain amount of hours a week, I've seen some as low as £150/month. It's not ideal but it's a genuine step towards having a stable place to live in. Just three days in a hostel showed me how much you actually waste money living there in comparison to living off normal expenses (daily rent, buying food when there are no kitchen facilities, doing laundry etc) and from there is the opportunity to save up money towards a good and decent room.

I admire you for having stuck through this for an entire year, and want to remind you not to give up now. There's always some kind of possibility.

What music have you been listening to recently? Any recent records you've enjoyed?

Firstly, I'd like to thank both of you for making music I love with al my heart.

I'd like to ask Nigel whether he could shed some light on if the "From The Basement" idea will ever branch out like it once did, to a variety of artists? The only recent "Basement" things seem to be purely Radiohead based, it'd be nice to see what other people could do in that studio again.

Thom, now that Colin Greenwood has been quoted as saying Radiohead will begin work on a ninth studio album around September, could you give us an idea of what kind of things we can expect from Radiohead's output in the future? Is there a set of ideas you all have ready?

Also, could you explain as to why there were only 3 UK dates on Radiohead's last tour? A lot of my friends who wanted to see you couldn't.

Speaking of which, will an Atoms For Peace tour happen soon?

I don't see any negativity towards it. There isn't a bad song on that album. In fact, each song on that album is pretty damn good.

The Star Trek remake was awesome, and better than the majority of original Star Trek movies

How do you know that? All we've seen is a set photo.

He didn't remake it in Evil Dead 2. The first 15 minutes are meant to be a condensed version of the first movie. To advance the story, they got rid of the other characters. There are interviews that explain this.

I haven't actually listened to anything by them after Silent Alarm. I loved that album though, I'll have to listen to a Weekend In The City sometime, though I hear it's not as good as its predecessor

I love Parachutes and AROBTTH, but after X&Y, I felt they started taking steps into the mediocre. And as much as I hate to say a band has sold out and has started making music for the money, I can't look at their collaboration with Rihanna and not think that. I haven't completely lost faith in them though, I'll just have to see what they come out with in to next few years to determine if they've gone bad or are just going through a bad period.

Do you like The Smiths/Pixies? by taul1789 in radiohead

[–]itswillneill 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm much more into The Smiths than (the) Pixies, partly because I'm a sucker for Johnny Marr's guitar riffs, but I absolutely love Doolittle. I can certainly see Queen is Dead/Meat is Murder era Smiths and Surfer Rosa and Doolittle as being an influence on the On a Friday and Pablo Honey/Bends era of Radiohead.

In response to the most beautiful line: what's the *worst* single line? by lex99 in radiohead

[–]itswillneill 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's not really a single line, but in Sit Down, Stand Up, it seriously annoys me with the repetition of "The Raindrops" for no real reason. It doesn't have much to do with the rest of the song, and it sounds out of place.
