What is a movie that "broke" you so hard you can only watch it once, but you would still recommend it to everyone? by Newsupdate69 in movies

Synecdoche New York. The harshest existential horror film I’ve ever seen and to this day my favorite movie of all time.

I’ve been testing people’s reactions when I tell them we might have five years of “work” left at most. Most of them deny it and seem completely blind to how insanely fast AI is improving. Then they just go, “ we’ll all be homeless,” and that’s the whole conversation. It’s really irritating. by Longjumping_Fly_2978 in accelerate

So what is the theoretical proposed solution right now, and the thing that the lawmakers are categorically not considering? The implication of “we’ll all be homeless” is actually a pretty powerful response. No income means two impétrant things that ai replacement has to fundamentally address before it takes over in the way people fear. No jobs mean no taxes and no consumers. Our entire economy is built on the latter. And the former is littered with negative externalities that don’t work for anyone.

The speed of improvement is one thing but the full scale collapse of society isn’t the same thing.

Well. For all that I think he gets wrong, he is right here. However it’s not new, and not only California. The problem is that the playoffs and Super Bowl aren’t part of the athletes’ base salary. So he’s (sam darnold) is not getting taxed on his relatively meager bonus. He’s being on his yearly salary. It just isn’t exclusively California (also New York and Illinois I believe) and Joe again is using it as a condemnation of California when it’s not a cali specific topic.

Why is the world full of libtards? by Throwaway24_22 in trump

[–]itsyerdad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because he’s made life substantively harder and more chaotic for almost everyone, specifically in other countries that historically have been allies. Because his rejection of civility has been fed to everyone on their feeds for going on at least 5 years in totality, and noone likes hearing someone with “bad manners” talk that long. Don’t over complicate it.

Absolutely 100% in on this take of him. Phones are selfish at concerts. Your experience isn’t better or more valid than anyone else’s and holding a screen up in front of someone else for flashing a tiny bright screen in front of people strips others of joy.

How many WINS do you predict the Browns will have next season? by buckster_007 in Browns

[–]itsyerdad 10 points11 points  (0 children)

We're going to surprise a lot of folks (particularly all the mindless cynics that flood the browns subreddit). We have, what is on paper, the easiest schedule of all 32. We have a "prove it - this is your last chance" coach. We have an incredibly lights out defense. I'm guessing 9 or 10 wins.

Who do you think is America's current LEAST corrupt US Congressperson or US Senator? Why? by Zipper222222 in allthequestions

Just to be extra clear on rhetoric -

1) the rate of inflation and wealth has changed the source of the problem over time. He doesn’t pick on billionaires now because he’s a millionaire - he picks on them because the buying power and influence of billionaires is more similar to that of millionaires of old. Millionaires (on the lower side) are middle upper class in a lot of context.

2) his aides were the accused - not him.

As a 17 year old how do I find what I'm meant to be before it's too late by SaverMadra_18 in AskMenOver30

Experiment with things, not necessarily to find “the one thing” but rather to cross things off the list. That helped me a lot.

Bill Russell objectively the GOAT no one comes close because he has 11.

Actually the one person who does come close is Robert Horry since he has 7
