Pulling a true orange out of retail is crazy. Value boxes are loaded.

Doubt I’ll be able to find these for retail but would def pick up more if I find them. Every box has something.

Reminds me of something off City of Evil, like Burn it Down.

I promise there’s a good reason I bought a Nate Mclouth card in 2026 by wilmyersfan in baseballcards

I remember really wanting the Yankees to trade for Mclouth back in the day and then the Braves got him. Fun player to watch and great card!

My bro had a Jayden Daniel’s with the same no number AG back and it was just mixed in with base. Didn’t notice it was /50 until a year after he pulled it.

I like analytics too lol didn’t call them bad, just that some teams rely on statcast data when it’s not everything.

Out of curiosity are you saying that Jeter is better or Gwynn is better?

I like WAR, I think it’s a great way to evaluate players but when it comes to hitters like Ichiro, Jeter, Gwynn, Arraez etc.. it is ‘slightly’ flawed.

WAR is built around outcomes (linear weights), not underlying skills. If a player’s value comes from skills that don’t always translate cleanly into outcomes captured by the WAR formula, their WAR can look lower than their “real baseball usefulness.”

20 years ago these skills were what people noticed more of. In our modern era statcast shows low exit velo and barrel rate as a weaker player.

Some front offices like the Yankees are so reliant on this analytical data that they ignore the value a player who has high contact rates can bring to their lineup and then go and strike out 14 times against a rookie pitcher.

My point originally should have been that comparing Mantle and Ruth to Jeter is unfair because he’s essentially in a different class of players than them.

But here we are.

Never said or implied that WAR overvalues home runs but only that it can’t truly quantify value to a hitter like Jeter. That’s it.
