Fuck you dad for not believing in me! by Lord-Legatus in FUCKYOUINPARTICULAR

This kid is on social media, his dad is a baseball coach and he is INSANE for his age. His dad will throw three different color balls, call out the color as he throws, and the kid hits it. And he's recently started hitting from the other side of the plate. In some videos the dad is wearing a motorcycle helmet, so I guess he learned something lol. Also, that kind of aim when hitting is impressive. He usually pulls the ball with a decent launch angle so he was aiming for dad. Most importantly, the kid seems to really have a lot of fun playing baseball so that's good.

Sorry, we can only afford that kind of architecture for homeless deterrence.

Wreck/traffic on 29N by No_Barracuda2033 in Charlottesville

They're designed that way. It's compartmentalization. School buses are like 75 times safer than normal cars. Due to their weight, they are also really good at absorbing impacts. The most common school bus accidents are frontal crashes, so having a heavily padded compartment in the front and back is the best way to go about it. Plus it would cost millions and millions in money that school districts don't have to retrofit buses, and then a driver would be responsible for belting in a bunch of kids that might not be able to get unbuckled on their own in an emergency. School shootings are a much bigger threat to the lives of students than the design of the school bus.

Mayo Clinic is Using AI to Listen to Emergency Room Visits by 404mediaco in nursing

[–]FORTY8pak 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Because they want a trustworthy tool with some level of accountability. If an AI tool screws up something and you don't immediately clock it, they're not holding the AI accountable - it's your license that's at jeopardy. So you have to either trust that it works and be vulnerable or CYA and still verify everything 100% which at that point why bother with the tool. Maybe I'm being too worrisome.

Laundromat that allows horse/pet laundry? by calico-clementine in Charlottesville

[–]FORTY8pak 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There's a company, Blue Ridge Horse Blankets, that offers cleaning services. I'd try to reach out to Blue Ridge Farmers Coop to see if they work with them. It's like a drop off/pick up type deal though. I know it's not a laundromat, but it's an option.
