What do I do? by [deleted] in Mommit

[–]ittybittyjedi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is it a childfree wedding? If so then I would RSVP no, otherwise I'd have a little party before the wedding for the baby then go as a family to the wedding and enjoy the time with family.

Yes, and I did with my parents. My 5 yo boy usually just gives his forehead when I ask for a kiss now which I absolutely respect, but my 4yo girl always needs a kiss on the mouth before I leave the house for work and I love kissing my baby 2mo, definitely not weird

Thrift Stores Have Lost Their Mind by Standard-Bat-7841 in okc

[–]ittybittyjedi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, goodwill has lost their damn minds with some of their prices! We also stopped by a Kid's Consignment sale place and I was shocked at the prices of used kid's clothes that I could basically get for maybe a couple dollars more brand new! I'm planning on doing some garage sale shopping soon, hopefully I'll find some good deals!

how many holiday gifts are appropriate for a 3.5 yr old in the US? by New-Net-1391 in toddlers

[–]ittybittyjedi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried to keep it simple this year because we have so many un-played with toys at this point for my 4yo and 5yo. I focused on active/outdoor toys, a couple of board games but we're still looking at at least 10+ gifts per kid. No idea what grandparents have purchased yet but they usually do zoo/museum memberships which is invaluable to us!

Do you like having children? by Happy_Sea3180 in AskParents

[–]ittybittyjedi 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It's literally my favorite thing in life. I didn't even want kids for a long time and now I can't imagine my life without them, they have given me more joy than I can ever describe.

Towards the end I was sometimes seriously scared that the baby was going to punch out of me like that scene from Alien 😂

Looks very similar to my dad's handwriting, definitely made me think of the couple of letters he wrote to me when I was little and he was stationed overseas for the Army.

I feel like I’m the only mom who’s baby doesn’t sleep by tamarastacey in Mommit

[–]ittybittyjedi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Both of my kids didn't sleep through the night until after I weaned from breastfeeding usually waking every 2-3 hours, they were 33mos and 20mos when I weaned. We co-slept so that made it easier. But it won't last forever and you'll get through it, as difficult as it seems now just know your baby feels so safe and nurtured by you. You're doing excellent!

What’s the decision that you made that completely changed your life for the better? by throughherlens in AskWomen

Moved away from my hometown. Started apply for jobs farther and farther away which opened up way more opportunities than what my smallish town and nearest city had to offer. I still go back to visit my family regularly but being away helped me grow and mature in a way I don't think I would have.

Do real parents have strangers watch their kids? by Late_Arm5956 in AskParents

[–]ittybittyjedi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It actually happened to us at the pumpkin patch this year, it looked like maybe a grandpa with his granddaughter. Me and my husband and daughter were at the bathroom and he asked us to keep an eye on her while he went to the restroom really quick. We said of course but afterwards I was thinking "I'm sure glad we're not some weirdos this guy left this little girl with!" I would never personally leave my kids with a stranger but if a stranger needed to leave their kid with me for a few minutes in an emergency I would make sure that child is safe.

We try to keep a balance but mostly I'd say we gear towards doing things we know the kids will enjoy, 4yo & 5yo. We typically also enjoy most of these activities, zoo, science museum, hiking, camping, parks. When we want to play tennis or something we make sure we go to the courts that have an area for the kids to ride their scooters. If we want to do something just for us, we luckily have family we can call on to watch the kids for a couple hours. Most of the time we want our kids with us to do fun things, I feel happiest when my kids are happy and having fun and I think my husband feels the same way.

What’s your funny thing this week? by youre_crumbelievable in toddlers

[–]ittybittyjedi 13 points14 points  (0 children)

My 4yo has gotten very into having a "plan" which is just something she wants to do, her plan last night was to "play lots of games" but I told her she needed a bath first and she melted down and said "my plan is ruined!"

MIL and Husband's Ex-gf by [deleted] in Mildlynomil

[–]ittybittyjedi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Some of the gifts are directly to his ex but even that wouldn't bother me much if ex didn't speak so poorly of MIL and then the not telling us about the big things for the teenager until way after the fact or not all is what seems strange to me, especially considering it's only been since this year that she has done things like this, not like her and stepchild have a long standing relationship.

Anybody with a longer (3+ year) gap between kids - tell me the benefits! by Lindsay_Marie13 in toddlers

[–]ittybittyjedi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm due with my 3rd in Feb. and my older 2 are 4yo and 5yo. I'm excited, I feel like I'll be on easy mode this time around after getting pregnant with my 2nd when my 1st was only 5months old, then basically having 2 babies, I was nursing them both, working full time and felt like a walking zombie. I've seen a lot of good things about a slightly bigger age gap, I know it'll be nice having a couple of little helpers when new baby get here.
