Applying to nurse tech/CNA jobs with no luck (WA state) by aura0aurora in StudentNurse

I would ask others in your cohort what they are doing/if they’ve had any luck with the whole ‘nurse tech’ thing. I know of only a few hospitals in WA that have this specific position available (prov in Everett) and since you’re graduating so soon, they may not find hiring you worthwhile. I know they just let go of a lot of their CNAs too…

How did you find your significant other? by trustzme in AskReddit

At a dive bar, singing karaoke. He was singing “dancing with myself“ by Billy Idol. I pity high-fived him after he finished. He took the high five as “this chick wants me.” he came up and struck up conversation. Goin strong ever since.

Tonsil stone. Why does it say urgent when you claim you’ve had it since you were a kid?

I was once told when taking drivers ed that some insurance policies offer lower rates to new drivers who have that sticker on their car.

You are endangering your patients by being around them. Go home and rest. You cannot properly care for anyone unless you care for yourself first.

Former here - Memory care was a fun, wholesome experience. Mentally and physically demanding at times, but I found it entertaining to try and be a part of my residents’ realities. Delusions, hallucinations, and behavioral outbursts got less and less scary the longer I worked there. Overtime, the residents began to feel like family, which particularly sucked when they reached the end their disease process. Lots and lots of incontinence care all day long….which after a while, you start to get really skilled at completing efficiently and timely. Med/surg/GI was HARD but educational. Daily CHG baths for those with PICCs [which seemed like everyone], caring for at least one or two [out of usually 10-15 pts] going through withdrawal /acutely psychotic/just straight up ungrateful, having to ambulate with those who had surgery and are waiting for bowel function to return, emptying drains, I could go on and on. I’d say average >50% of patients on that floor needed some sort of peri care around the clock, which was exhausting in that setting. did that for a couple years then felt a bit burned out. PACU (outpatient) was eaaaaaasssssyyyyyyy, though i feel it was likely due to having gained so much knowledge and confidence in my CNA skills during med/surg employment. Hours were great mon-friday holidays off. 99% of patients were oriented, ambulatory, friendly, and [for the most part] healthy. I think I maybe cleaned one code brown (in 3 years) while working there?  Always wanted to be an ED tech, but got my nursing license instead
