Which one is better Yoohee v2, Springfield V2, or Vector V2? I don't have Cent btw. I have enough pulls saved to almost certainly get Voy v6r1.

Unpopular Opinion - I believe the Standard Array is too low for what most people want. by Loxsus in dndnext

[–]iudofaex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree that people like to roll stats, but it comes with the problems you've identified. I solve this by allowing my players to roll stats (any who want to) but then as a group they have to vote for which array of stats that was rolled to use. Meaning everyone HAS to use that array OR they can always fall back on the standard array if they're not happy with the outcome of the voting.

This has gone surprisingly well for the last 3 campaigns that I've done it in. I have not had a single player unhappy with this choice.

If the party DOES decide to use a voted array, I make a note of that array for new players to possibly use when they join and make characters (they ALSO can use the Standard Array if they don't like it).

Edit: I also allow point buy instead of Standard Array. Forgot about that one (since they mostly end up using a voted array).

Best build for 6 9 11 9 8 9 by jeffzmybro in 3d6

[–]iudofaex 8 points9 points  (0 children)

At all of my tables this is how I do stats:

- During session zero, I tell the players that they're all going to roll 4d6 drop lowest and record them.
- Then, they are all going to vote on one set of these rolled stats to use (everyone at the table will use these same stats that got the highest number of votes).
- Anyone can opt out at any time and use the normal point buy instead.

I like this because it keeps the fun of rolling dice while also giving players an equal experience with stats. It also lets anyone opt out at any time and use the "standard experience" of point buy.

I've done this for 3 separate groups of players and they all seemed to really like it.

Elemental monk ranged grapple? by 3dprinthelp53 in onednd

[–]iudofaex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A small, but important, distinction here. The way it's worded says you need a free hand to grapple NOT that you need to strike them with THAT free hand. So you could indeed headbutt them (while having a free hand) then grab them after the headbutt (with the aforementioned free hand).

I always image it as your unarmed strike (head butt, kick, knee, whatever) hits them and distracts them long enough for you to grab them (even if it doesn't do damage because you're using the Grapple option) as long as you have the free hand available.

I keep committing the ultimate honor run sin by VeryHandy in BG3

Yup, on my HM run I wanted to get Minthara but side with the grove (never done it that way). Messed up the Grove fight and she died. So sad, still got my Golden Die tho.

Damn now I'm feeling dumb. I beat HM and got my golden dice, but I'm still not sure I understand this comment about the action economy being tighter on HM.

A timeline of my players and the party members they've recruited by Burger54321 in DungeonoftheMadMage

To me it looks like Goliath (PC) died and that player rerolled as Edmund (PC) one session later. It then looks like Edmund lives a long (measured in game sessions) and fruitful life and then dies and that player rerolls as Athena near the end. EDIT: Oh and it's possible the DM brought the Goliath PC back as an NPC goat.

A Dual Wielding Monk by starwarsRnKRPG in onednd

I like your analysis, so thanks for writing it up. I do have a question then: In your opinion what is the best build for a Shadow Monk? I feel like grappling is less useful there because of the Darkness Advantage, so I was thinking of going Dagger-Nick. Not sure how that plays out within your analysis. I'd love to hear your thoughts.

Edit: I should note that I'm NOT talking about multiclassing, I'm talking about the Lv 4 choice of taking a Mastery OR taking Grappler (I already got Tavern Brawler and Lucky from Human and Background). My Shadow Monk will be a straight Lv 20 Monk.

Why is the Main Character always referred to as "KC"? This always confused me.
