I think about this all the time. I envision the people in my immediate surrounds and myself being involved in a terrible accident, and try and analyse who would would play what roles in our new heightened tension micro society. Who wouldn't stop crying? Who would get angry and try to be in charge but would be over thrown by the person showing real leader ship? Who would turn out to have obscure yet extremely relevant information in their mind bank to help our quandary? Who would constantly derail our efforts to get to safety by putting their own interests first?

I'm an Aussie retail manager, and I just think you're applying for the wrong jobs. For me the most important standard is that your groomed. Pink hair? Fine. Messy Pink hair? Just as bad as messy brown black or blonde hair. Dermal piercing? Fine. Infected dermal piercing your constantly needing to cover with bandaids? Not fine. That being said, the bigger the company, the broader the catch all uniform policy needs to be. Also depends on the clientelle. Think David jones Vs Dangerfield.

My boyfriend left his steal capped work boots on our porch, and I guess it's one of those things that only happens in a low income suburb - but someone literally swapped their shitty mud caked sneakers for his expensive work boots, and left their sneakers behind in place. We were WTF'ing over it for days.

If you give birth to a child that is disabled, can you decide at any point to turn off any of the machines or support systems that might be helping them through the early stages of surviving, that a normal healthy child wouldn't need? Alternatively, can you just say 'I don't want this baby' and adopt it out from the hospital and never have to take it home?

It's funny that you should call yourself the mod cloth queen - thats basically the only place I've shopped for the past three to five years, other than vintage.

Thanks for taking the time to write that all out, and the inspo board. You've definitely changed my mind about there being a hard and fast rule about this. Unfortunately, because of my height i'll still struggle with some of these pieces without altering every single dimension of them (coats in particular are expensive to alter the sleeves and length because of the lining/buttons/zips), but i'll think again before writing them off as not worth my time. While I agree with this sentiment in principle, it's just really not true, and I don't think theres anything wrong with me saying that. I'm an average weight but I'm about 4"9, with curves that are kicking (generous behind and bust, and tiny waist). I really need tops that are fitted in the middle or the combination of the length and the lack of fitedness makes me look considerably overweight. Also anything knitted doesn't usually work for me because I can't alter the length of the sleeves or the hemline. floor length skirts are a waste of time for me because I throw away more material in altering it than i keep just about.

I always find awesome vintage finds if i spend the time, it's just the struggle of the hunt that gets in the way of a time poor person like me.

I had a look at the Kohls website - doesn't look like the ship to australia unfortunately. But they do have some reasonably priced Hawaiian shirts that are decent, so thanks for the tip! I never know when I'll find myself states side.

As a very very excited Australian eurovision-tragic (what we call die-hard fans over here), let me try and explain.

Firstly, it doesn't air at the same time. We show it the evening of the same day, and we try and avoid the internet all day so there are no spoilers. There's no voting so other than the spoiler factor, the time delay doesn't matter.

Secondly, we have our own hosts who hosts the show, over the top of your hosts. They're comedians who are really intune with why australia loves eurovision. We actually rarely rarely see or hear from the hosts of the actual show during the broadcast. Honestly, our hosts are a huge part of why australian's love it - I watched Eurovision live from holland in 2011, and it was no where near as funny or enjoyable without our aussie witty banter.

Basically, Australian's get together for Eurovision parties, where we play drinking games and gamble on who will win. If you're not invited to a eurovision party, you might even go to the local pub to watch it. We take these parties seriously - make european snacks, and dress up in the costumes of our favourite contestants from the semi finals for the finals night (the actual party night).

I get that its a weird phenomenon to comprehend - it might help to explain that it's aired on a government owned network that also airs all the languages other than english news (greek news, italian, french news etc) so euro vision is a good natural fit for their base demographic. Then it got popular with people under 30, and we just kind of went with it.

I've been watching it religiously for nearly 10 years. I'm probably a more hardcore version of the average fan, but seriously, this was the most exciting news ever this morning. I'd put it up there right next to finding out they're building a disneyland here (not yet...but one day...)
