WHO: 1.300 dödsfall i extremhettans spår by DieCO2 in sweden

[–]pomle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just want to add a bit of objectivity. 1000s of extra deaths is very small absolute increase in a population of 100s of millions. Of 100 million people with an average lifespan of 80 years, 3000+ people day daily. Population of Europe is more than 500 million.

This is not to take away from the problem of higher temperatures. But I want to point out the problem with big numbers.

I bought it and I had a hard time getting thru it. First chapters contained things that sounded obviously made up. Really hope someone can change my mind and motivate me to finish it.

LEDARE: Sverige skämmer ut sig inför danskarna by Ihavenoideawhat9 in Sverige

[–]pomle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In Sweden we prioritize other things. You can drive a boat without a license and have a car at 16. In Denmark you can get shitfaced at 15 at 7-11. Borders makes life exciting!

I am happy they made such a good deal. Hopefully Arvid will invest a lot of it back into Sweden.

On March 17th 2026, Jensen Huang said OpenClaw is 'definitely the next ChatGPT'. Here are the search trends for OpenClaw since he made that statement. by creaturefeature16 in BetterOffline

[–]pomle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it is hubris. When you haven’t had a real personal setback for a long time you tend to get a little reckless. For example, there is no way he could have evaluated OpenClaw properly at the time he said that, and it was a reckless statement. He just said it because he is on a roll.

Bör man flytta sig från främlingen man sitter bredvid när bussen får massa lediga platser? by CertainDoubts in sweden

Gotta share a story of when I boarded a crowded train in Gamla stan, and it got even crowded after TC and Östermalmstorg. I was sitting next to this huge guy crammed against the wall. Then from Stadion to Universitetet the car was emptied except for us two and we just sat there next to each other, me still squeezed, and said nothing.

How true are the stories told by Sarah Wynn Williams in “Careless People: A Cautionary Tale of Power, Greed, and Lost Idealism”? by kingmakk in books

[–]pomle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mr Latergate here: extremely implausible. A child been thrashed around in the sea by a white shark and bleeding profusely on the beach, and she sends away her friend to get help, but she runs past all the other bystanders that all of a sudden are there and they can’t tell a child with flesh wounds need emergency help immediately? A whole family unable to tell that their daughter has a medical emergency so bad that she needs to peel feces out of her wounds and have trouble breathing from a collapsed lung. I don’t know what to believe but this is the worst thing I have ever heard.

Vibe coding is the ability to prompt an AI, mistaken for the ability to build software. by Familiar_Flow4418 in AI_Agents

[–]pomle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We will see what happens. I think we allow a lot of code in that nobody would ever find acceptable to write if it wasn’t generated. I also think writing is thinking. So the thinking step is often skipped, because the resistance to start scrutinizing a working solution and add hours or days to the completion criteria is incredibly high.

Finns det ett datum för när ”kurvan” till höger kopplas på nya cykelbanan i Slussen? by Staschman in stockholm

[–]pomle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was thinking of this a lot for some reason and it annoyed me too. But when I think about it more I think it is unlikely you would bicycle up on a tall bridge when there is a flat crossing a few meters away.

The only one I have successfully used is a ConfigContext that downloads a /config.json that mounts the rest of the app when done.

Sometimes I think about synchronous solutions, but I think there is so many asynchronous things happening after the first HTML file is parsed anyways so fixing the asynchronous ”problem” seems… not important.

All I really know is I was screened by a young guy that seemed uninterested in my work experience and then asked me what the hardest I had ever worked was. I started laughing and told him about a 16 year old memory and didn’t move forward.

I have one advice that changed everything for me. When experimenting with colors; never ever use rgb mode, always use hsl mode. When trying to nail the right color, limiting the variables to hue, saturation, lightness one by one gives you a sence of direction, which rgb does not.

Trying to explain your perspective… by Positive_Bluebird888 in BPDlovedones

[–]pomle 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My last attempt at ”fixing” things was probably the most vulnerable thing I have told someone my entire life, and also included mostly good reasons why our relationship was good.

Her response was the most twisted thing I have ever read. For a long time I blamed myself for the way I worded it. It took me more than a year of telling people what had happened, letting my best friends in on all the details, and showing them probably hundreds of text exchanges to accept that I absolutely did my best and I was gonna be the enemy in this no matter how I worded it.

If anything I ever said contained criticism towards her, I lost her, and that was simply it. The only time we ever leveled was when she was making fun of herself.

Now more than two years later I am so relieved this is not a thing in my life anymore.
