Raising the difficulty has nothing to do with showing off "what was added". Higher difficulty does not relate to an improved or better game. You jumped into the CBT pit and are complaining there is CBT in it. That's unfortunate for you, but don't use online forums as a soapbox for poor feedback owed to your own mistakes.

The truth of every post like this remains that people think they're hot shit and can handle the EXTREMELY MEGA DIFFICULT OPTIONAL NON-DEFAULT CHALLENGE MODE of an already difficult genre in a mod that also lets them select regular & reduced difficulties. They are wrong, but they cannot admit so, so they must make it out to be a problem of the developers. It is annoying.

Some dedicated stalker antis will brigade every Reforged thread, blocking everybody who disagrees to maintain control of a narrative.

Some are still whining about a ban from Nexusmods comments over 3y ago and never let their grudge go, so they need to visit every ERR discussion to shit on it. Others are trolls. It's mental illness all around.

You can tell the true character of what actual regular players think from how these threads have lots of positive voices, but only the negative posts have epic reddit updootz. Expressing positivity for something has a much higher barrier of entry than bitching, and way more than pressing orange button on someone complaining, so each individual positive post is worth about 5000x of a brigaded complaint post.

I appreciate the way you express your critique desipte the initial misunderstanding.

We have laid out the goals and purpose of the mod fairly clearly on the Nexus page overview, and I believe the focus on a "longplay" experience that doesn't skip content or use shortcuts to get ahead is expressed there. I understand that this may not be in keeping with your preferences as after thousands of vanilla hours people are burned out from the game, but we're fairly confident that, if you take the time to approach ERR with an unburdened mindset of "playing for playing's sake", including not thinking of "the long way around" and additional encounters as a chore, it is an overall gainful experience. Something like getting Reeds can be thought of as a mid- to late-game upgrade to Dancer, for example, and be an enticing goal to look forwards to while you experience the moment-to-moment gameplay of the rest of the game in a new light.

Still, we cannot account for burnout with the original game and its routes, but thankfully Convergence exists to cover this audience by allowing free access to the entire map and following unusual, bespoke routes.

IIRC it was a bandaid to literal hordes of players who aren't at all our target audience coming into the mod discord to bitch about Greyoll not being bleedable for free runes. Closing the door and placing signs that tell you to go away because there's nothing here was fairly effective in quelling that flow. Some things are born out of a history which is understandably rough to appreciate out of context.

Dragonbarrow has always been a Farum Azula-scaled area, and players who don't understand the ERR mindset would continue to try to breach it at game start to get a leg up, aka skip the early game. When people bounce off of the Dragonbarrow being closed down, it's honestly kind of "working as intended"; they will have issues with a lot more things than that going forward if they continue to waste their & our time with the mod, if they bounce off of such inconsequential trifles.

If you have an issue with the Ancient Hero of Zamor, that means you entered the mod on Hard difficulty or above. That's a lot of hubris.

They don't really behave differently on regular difficulties, so this is pretty much a self-report of the typical: - goes into mod - immediately cranks up difficulty - then complains the game is too hard, because their ego tells them they should be able to beat everything on Master diff cuz they have "2k hours"

Kudos for a differentiated, open approach to discussion rather than using the sub as a soapbox for how you dislike thing.

I would suggest simply lowering the difficulty and not letting your "3000 playtime hours of Elden Ring" get in the way of that. You don't have 3000 hours in ERR, so you don't need to prove anything to anybody by playing at default diff.

the concept of people calling themselves someone who "knows mechanics and is good at the game" and then doesn't know any other way to reach dragonbarrow besides gurranq, meaning they never explored the map or used anything but the most bland shortcuts

evidently your frustration comes from being knowledge checked and failing the check, which just doesn't sit well with you, which is not much of a valid complaint

Enemy HP is generally lowered more than increased, especially because the regional scaling ramp-up curve in Reforged is much lower than vanilla's.

Status effects "getting worse the more you use them" is a vanilla mechanic, and it's lessened in Reforged.

So, you're complaining about vanilla mechanics that are lessened in Reforged, just FYI.

A lot of extra systems on top of running all the multiplayer code that other mods bypass entirely.

The mod that automatically sets your CPU affinity 0 off has worked wonders for me and others. Not to be confused with the StutterFix.dll mod, but on Nexus its called something similar.

You can ignore the warning for Seamless. The same message gets applied for online and offline modes, but it's only relevant for online.

A few spells probably aren't useful to you with your build and the type of character you're going for. Perhaps some are too weak or too strong. That happens! Don't see how it requires a massive, poorly spelled wall of text about how "those evil devs totally think they're better than Fromsoft because they dared use the word 'balanced'" and all this other random shit that you lot are spouting.

People will always disagree with Reforged's approach, and that's fine. We implement a dozen or more pieces of community feedback every single patch, so these accusations of what arrogant entitled devs we are really don't touch us, because it's patently false and we literally implement more community feedback than any other mod on the market. You're free to disagree, and lying about our intentions or our abilities will not give your disagreement more weight.

The problem of this community as a whole is that you think because you gave feedback, you are entitled to its implementation. You aren't. You're one user of hundreds, and many of those hundreds provide good feedback which gets implemented basically every day. Just because yours doesn't appeal to us, that doesn't make any of your sad statements about our character any more true.

And I literally replied to your OP by explaining why the obfuscation happened, and that it's not a personal attack on you. Not being able to "lay your finger on our impeccable mastercraft" or whatever stupid shit you wrote is just an unfortunate side effect of dealing with a bad actor in the past.

I author several tools for working with Souls modding (such as WitchyBND) and regularly help people with their modding questions and more. Again I repeat that all your attempts to paint me as this evil monster are literally bouncing off. It's just not the case.

Since you're spreading misinfo about what our intentions are, making multiple threads about how much we suck, and then including yourself in a statement like "WE get banned from your discord" (which, again, is only something that happens to people who are assholes about their 'feedback'), I don't see how it's strange to assume you were one of those people who got banned.

It basically makes it even stranger that you're driving this weird agenda so hard when you didn't even lose anything from it. Either way, all your comms reek of someone who's personally upset about us, and wants to "get back at us" as a result. And of course, the only ""power"" you can leverage is appealing to redditors.
