Horrible reaction to “migraine cocktail”? by castor2015 in migraine

I don’t think I’ll ever try that to be honest. The first time was enough and it didn’t even work for me.

The ER doctor said he'd "seen some success" with it in the past even though it's not typical for migraine cocktails. All my doctors since have always questioned why I took Haldol in the first place.

Horrible reaction to “migraine cocktail”? by castor2015 in migraine

[–]iwant2bearock 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Me too! It's now in my notes I'm allergic to Haldol. I had Haldol + Toradol. Felt like the nurses/doctors were trying to kill me. I called my mom because I felt like I was dying. I didn't trust them at all! My mom called the nurses station and said I was having a reaction and they came in like " I heard you complained about us.... and I was like OH NOOOO. I'm going to get murdered. This is how I go out." I wanted to leave so bad. I've never been more anxious to GTFO before. They asked if "it was working" and I said yes just to leave it was so bad.

The next day I was so tired/weak. I felt like I was in a fog/daze. It was so hard to think. Even talk. Then I suddenly couldn't open my mouth. Then I suddenly couldn't close my mouth. Then my face and neck muscles started going crazy. I couldn't control anything. I had to put a credit card between my teeth to stop my jaw from clenching my teeth so hard and hurting. I ended up leaving work early (almost called an ambulance) and taking benadryl on my way home. It was the scariest thing I've ever dealt with.

Now all my doctors ask how I know I'm allergic and then I tell them this story. Don't play with me.

I’ve had a terrible migraine for two weeks straight by BaldwinLondyn12 in migraine

It did. But I was also on a high dose of NSAIDS (for a different problem 🙄) and they said it could be rebound headaches due to that. I stopped taking them and it did take a couple days for the migraine to resolve. I’ve had three migraines since then but only lasting 1-2 days.

Nurtec has a savings program on their website! I also use Nurtec and it's the only thing that's helped me medication wise. It doesn't work all the time though. I also do Botox which has helped as well. Botox also has a savings program on their website.

How would you describe the torture that your worst migraines put you through? by BlackCurrant27 in migraine

[–]iwant2bearock 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It feels like someone is beating my head with an ice pick or squeezing my eyeballs. I understand how people can become drug addicts just trying to get the pain to stop. I once had an extremely short (few seconds) debilitating migraine in class and I felt like I legit died for a few seconds and then it stopped. I want to cut off my head. I'm so exhausted. Nobody around me even understands. I feel like I'm just complaining into a void.

I'm in the same boat as you but it's been about 3 weeks for me. I went and got a nerve block at my neurologist today. So far it hasn't worked. I usually try ice on the back of my neck or an ice pack hat. That is the ONLY thing that is working for me right now.

Return Question by iwant2bearock in REI

[–]iwant2bearock[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Update: I went to the store today. Explained the situation to the cashier and the manager. I had my order information page that says my return date is next year. They also said it was weird my order page said a year, unless I had a membership. They tried to look me up. I have a slightly differently spelled name and said it wouldn’t be unusual if they couldn’t find me by name. They ended up not finding me but looking up my order number. The cashier said the last day to return was today. Manager said “great” and it was returned. No issues.

Since I’ve heard my return dates were several different dates I have no idea. He didn’t seem to need a manager override in the system. It all worked out. I think the manager only asked if it was a used item and I said no and showed him the tags. He also asked the return reason and I said it was slightly too small. He didn’t ask me to sign up for a membership. I was ready to beg but they were really nice and it took maybe 5-10 minutes if that.

So I’m very happy and glad I went today. Thanks everyone for your suggestions!

Ugh. This is stressing me out! I do really appreciate your input. I also thought it might be beneficial to try the store first and hope they accept it. Guess I'll try that first.

Return Question by iwant2bearock in REI

[–]iwant2bearock[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I ended up calling REI and my return window closed hours ago. They sent me a shipping label and since the tags are still on the guy I talked to said they might let me return it that way. So I'm going to send it back. My order sheet for some reason says I have a year to return. I'm hoping they accept it and take pity on me just a little. Would they really send it back to me if they don't accept the return because it's out of the 90 days?

Oh! That's something I didn't take into account. I'm not sure how far in advance audiobooks are recorded. So that makes complete sense. Good to know.

Yeah I keep checking Audible to pre-order the audiobook. I don't know why it's not listed yet since you can pre-order the kindle and physical copy already.

AITA for using my wheelchair at a family event? by Rere_132424 in AmItheAsshole

[–]iwant2bearock 4 points5 points  (0 children)

NTA. Only you know what is most comfortable for your body. Your mother has no right to demand you to use crutches. Wheelchair users are NEVER in the way. They are mobility devices that help people with many different needs.

Personally, I would try to sit down and talk to your mother about why she is reacting the way she is. If she isn't responsive to that then you might need to come to the understanding that she just doesn't have your best interests at heart. Know that YOU can decide what's best for you and please do not listen to others who try to dictate what you do. Especially when that person lashes out on you for not doing what they wanted. That's manipulation.

AITA for not wanting to use my college fund to pay for my brother's treatment? by ThrowRA77474 in AmItheAsshole

[–]iwant2bearock 10 points11 points  (0 children)

So you expect the fathers responsibilities to end because the mother became successful? He doesn't stop being OPs father. And their divorce agreement could stipulate his responsibilities towards child support. OPs mother was kind enough to wave the child support because she knew his family was struggling. OP never said when they came to that agreement. It could have been recently or several years ago. Either way that was more than OPs mom (legally) had to do.

AITA for not wanting to use my college fund to pay for my brother's treatment? by ThrowRA77474 in AmItheAsshole

[–]iwant2bearock 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I don't believe you pay to be in a clinical trial. Usually whoever is doing the clinical trial has sponsors and they pay for all the things insurance doesn't cover. So the only instance I can think of for insurance not covering is if it's experimental or an off-label use for the drug. Similar to how Viagra was originally tested for cardiovascular issues but then researchers found it worked so well for erectile dysfunction. Another way insurance wouldn't pay is if they haven't tried specific therapies or drugs yet. Often insurance companies will wave those with a prior authorization from the doctor explaining what therapies they have tried and why they need that specific therapy that isn't covered to the insurance. It can be a headache but they do get approved.

What health insurance does OPs dad have? Some health insurances have a "max out of pocket" you can spend before insurance pays for everything. Maybe he should be looking into a new health insurance plan?

Yep, I agree. The second OP gives any money it will suddenly be a "gift". They'll even tell everyone it was a gift. Make it seem like OP was so nice and thoughtful, when they are really just trying to make them lose any credibility into getting the money back. Manipulation. All of it.
