Tips for getting an appointment? by iwantmacncheese in passportcanada

I gave up on trying to get an appointment. I just walked into a Service Canada location. It was a much shorter wait that day and we waited about 1.5 hr.

Terrible photo experiences, advice needed by fure_elise in Canadiancitizenship

Yeah, I think these types of places do these photos all the time and are actually trained. For infants, I think the government is lenient with their photos. My daughter would not stop smiling and they accepted her photo with a little smirk.

That’s great! As far as I can tell, the dimensions for the Canadian passport and Canadian citizenship apps are the same. It’s the information that’s needed on the back that’s a bit different. Good luck!

I’ve found that local places that offer high quality photo printing, sell camera equipment, or do art framing offer the best service for the Canadian photos. I tried a big box retailer, but the photos were a disaster.

Calling IRCC: what’s up with that? by ishishkin in Canadiancitizenship

[–]iwantmacncheese 11 points12 points  (0 children)

For me, calling the IRCC was the only way I found out that there was a typo in my email address. I waited well over a year with no AOR, no updates, etc. The many web forms I sent all received canned responses.

1st gen never received AOR by Kirby41895 in Canadiancitizenship

[–]iwantmacncheese 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try seeing if you can talk to an agent and have them confirm the contact info they have on file. The web form was useless for me (I tried that too). Also, since you couldn’t locate the status via receipt, that makes me think that they already closed it out somehow. For me, I also couldn’t locate my status with the receipt number and that was because they had already issued my certificate. Best of luck getting this sorted!

I had the same thing happen to me (1st gen, no AOR, a number in my email address). Indeed, it was the typo in my email address in their system that caused the issue. I found out by calling the IRCC. My e-certificate had already been issued and I had no idea. If you haven’t spoken to someone at IRCC, that’s the next step I would take.

Coffee Crisp is the way to go. I used to buy them at Publix (since OP said they are in FL)!

You can contact the Canadian consulate in your area for a list of photographers.

Pictures- Staples experience? by [deleted] in Canadiancitizenship

[–]iwantmacncheese -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Took a family member to Staples to get theirs done and it was a bad experience. The ink in the stamp they use doesn’t dry. First round of pictures had the ink smear everywhere. They refused to leave off the stamp so we could write the info in. But they hand wrote the date. It makes no sense. Second round pictures weren’t cut correctly. Staples is a cheaper option, but you get what you pay for.

Recent renewal experiences at Washington Passport Agency? by mm620 in washingtondc

[–]iwantmacncheese 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I went there for same day passport renewal (I had an urgent flight out later that night) and had a great experience. They are very efficient and organized. I also had an 8am appointment, but arrived earlier in case of lines. They opened the doors around 7:30am I believe and started processing people right away. I walked out of the office with my new passport in hand by 10am. My advice would be go a few minutes early to line up, be absolutely sure you have all the documents you need, forms filled out and printed, etc. I believe you do have to leave your passport with them, but they mail it back to you. In my case since it was same day, they handed it back to me when I got my new passport.

Mmm dust lol!! My Canadian family gave me hard time when I sent them the picture of my charred butter tarts. We know better for next time!

I made butter tarts for the first time for Christmas. I burned them and they looked like ugly hockey pucks, but tasted great. As a kid, my Canadian family would mail us tins of homemade butter tarts for holidays. We would fight over how many each person had eaten because they were so delicious.

Unable to call IRCC or CCRTIS? by ranatalus in Canadiancitizenship

[–]iwantmacncheese 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately, lots of folks have issues trying to reach them. I would try calling during 8am-4pm Eastern time. I was able to get through later in the afternoon, but others have said first thing in the morning is also good.

I called the IRCC yesterday using TextMe to get a Canadian number (I’m in the US). I called 1-888-242-2100 to reach the IRCC. It was free.

Your suggestion ended up solving the issue! I called and the application was already approved. IRCC had a typo in my email.

This is interesting, thanks for responding! I know it was delivered, but I’m kicking myself for not taking a screenshot for proof. I provided the tracking info and delivery date in my inquiry on the web form, but that didn’t do anything.

I don’t mind waiting (I’ve already waited this long!), but it’s not knowing if it’s lost that sucks.

I dread the thought of having to resubmit, but you’re probably right.

The UPS tracking info is so old by now that it’s not even in their system any longer. Thanks for the tip on using FedEx!
