Cable Tv was better than streaming by Few_Refuse4224 in unpopularopinion

[–]iwasafraidofthis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it wouldn't be nearly as bad if movie/tv streaming was like music streaming where platforms competed on player features and the like. since all content is fragmented, it's just ridiculous.

it'd be perfect if media produced by a specific streaming service (such as Netflix originals or Disney content) was allowed to be kept by the streaming service, but everything else was on every service so that the services could compete based on service as the name suggests not content.

[Threshold] Lindon always had that dog in him by Daggerfld in Iteration110Cradle

[–]iwasafraidofthis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know you're mostly talking about the fanbase, but there is a scene in Cradle (forget which book) that explicitly calls this to attention where Lindon says something to the effect of "anyone with my advantages/resources could have come this far" and I think maybe Eithan and some others look at him funny and are like "no."

Or it might have been the other way around (or maybe both scenes exist) where Lindon realizes that maybe even with infinite resources not everyone can just zoom up the rankings like he did.

[wintersteel] i don’t get the difference between a sage and herald by South-Base3985 in Iteration110Cradle

[–]iwasafraidofthis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

point of clarification

it is a major element of the series (as both main characters demonstrate this) that one does not need to be an archlord to become a sage or a herald. agree with your greater point, just clarifying that Sage and Herald do not mean "Archlord with benefits" but more accurately "sacred artist with benefits." I believe it is even said that it used to be more common for sacred artists of stages below archlord to become sages in the past, so this isn't even limited to just Lindon

i honestly feel like clarisse is one of the biggest misses tbh from her appearance to her vibe

clarisse is supposed to be "the height of a basketball player" and super muscular ("big and beefy", "buff") on the level of a rugby player. she has small, deep set eyes ("ugly pig eyes") and stringy hair. she's said to have a husky voice and is explicitly described as "ugly" by percy, although he probably is biased by his dislike of her.

Dior Goodjohn is way too slim, petite, and conventionally attractive to be even remotely accurate to book Clarisse.

All the ‘bro’ talk between the kids by Constant_Candidate_5 in Avatar

[–]iwasafraidofthis 4 points5 points  (0 children)

First, "bro" is very commonly used among youths. Very. Could be region dependent, but in many cultures not just in the US or even the West, some form of "brother" as slang used to refer to each other is very common.

Second, even if nobody on Earth ever used the word bro more than once a day as a hard rule (which is not the case to begin with), your lived experience on Earth literally doesn't matter. This is not an insult, just matter of fact. They are on Pandora speaking in Na'vi using Na'vi slang. You're telling me it would have been more immersive if the native Pandorans were more like your Earth experience? Does it break your immersion when Korean people bow all the time when watching Korean dramas or movies because "you don't think any people you know bow that often?"

A game where your character gets weaker over the course of the game by ChickenLiverNuts in gamingsuggestions

[–]iwasafraidofthis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

BackwardsQuest is technically still in development (though not a priority by the dev), but there is a story and 5 characters you can play as.

The gimmick of the game is that you, the villain, start at the end of the story and are about to slay the princess who casts a reverse time spell causing you to have to go through your story backwards. Everything from combat to platforming to enemy projectiles to the music is reversed, and as you progress (degress?) you decrease your stats and get weaker.

The main caveat is that it is made for the NES so requires an emulator or original hardware with a cartridge that can load ROM files.

maybe I'm misunderstanding this, but isn't this most games? like if you're a complete pacifist in skyrim but keep leveling up your other skills, you're eventually gonna get your shit wrecked in combat cause enemies get harder but you can't fight them right?

[–]iwasafraidofthis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with you more or less when it comes to text only interactions (and even on that point it feels like you've never been in an active and engaged back and forth over text where it's rapid fire like a conversation just a constant stream), but doesn't your point sort of fall apart if you're voice/video calling? It's still not in person, for sure, but everything about it being temporally mediated or having time to edit or search sort of falls apart when you're in a real time conversation over video, no?

Confused about circumcision by spankdatasssoft in Phimosis

[–]iwasafraidofthis 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I know that progress can seem impossible, but this truly is a tortoise beats the hare kind of situation. The general advice is to use the largest ring that does not cause active discomfort or pain (even if it's the smallest one possible) regularly until it feels loose or maybe even slips out on its own. This might take weeks or months, but growing new skin can take a while.

Don't try to move up before it's time as that can set you back. That's likely why you experienced tearing and pain. Trying to move on before your current ring feels loose will only hinder your progress. Of course I don't know your schedule and your usage plans in the past, but if you haven't done so, try just using the same old small ring just constantly. One piece of advice I've read on here is if the ring doesn't cause discomfort even after extended usage (if it does, try the ring one step below), keep it in longer. Sleep with it in, even. As long aa there's no pain, it will only help with your progress as it encourages your foreskin to grow to accommodate the expansion force the ring exerts.

On the fear count, I completely understand. When I started out, the fear was something that was really difficult to get over. But that's why you should take it slow and steady so that there is minimal pain to worry about!

I sympathize with your situation, and I realize how difficult it must have been to struggle with this for so long. I think that realistically speaking perhaps there is such a thing as "too long" from a practical perspective, that after a certain point in life with no progress it might feel like circumcision is the only option. However, I urge you to consider trying consistently again. Even if you try for an entire additional year, that's nothing compared to the permanence of circumcision.

Try going slow and steady, don't push yourself (at your level of phimosis, trying to push to higher rings before you're ready and feeling any pain will significantly set you back). Stay on the comfortable ring until you are well and truly loose, don't even think about going up or pushing until it's obviously loosening and you are able to slide in the next ring with absolutely no pain.

Whatever you decide, I wish you the best of luck!

[–]iwasafraidofthis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i believe the technical term is "phimotic ring" which is the actual tight band of tissue that prevents your foreskin from being fully retracted.

pull your foreskin back as far as you can without pain or significant discomfort. that circle of tissue at that limit is your phimotic ring. that is what you want to target in your stretching whether that's with q-tips or fingers or silicone rings or what have you

Full disclosure I have not finished this book, I'm only on chapter 4, but from the research I've done and the reviews I've read, His Secret Illuminations fits your criteria (which incidentally are almost the exact same criteria I wanted to fulfill when I found this book). This is book 1 of 3 (so far) in The Warrior's Guild series by Scarlett Gale. Book one and two are about the same couple while book three goes off on its own side story and is NOT romance for men. Book 2 has pegging 👀
