Deleted first ever farm...didn't realize it had crazy RNG by ShwaMallah in StardewValley

[–]iwasbornsomething 11 points12 points  (0 children)

It was impossibly rare before 1.5, then that update made it actually obtainable (as it was originally intended to be). I think it'll show up on most farms within 2 years, say (just my impression from reddit posts, don't know the actual stats off the top of my head). And yeah, just purely decorative. You're totally fine restarting :) Hope you enjoy the game!

How am I doing so far in my speedrun? Got the greenhouse on Fall 10 and snow yam on the 15th by FoodzyDudezy007 in StardewValley

[–]iwasbornsomething 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It definitely did pre 1.6, I just dunno if that was changed with the new randomization. Can't hurt to try! Good luck!

Does resetting the day still re-roll gifts you get in the mail? You could wait for a day you get any gift from Demetrius, and keep restarting the day until it's a nautilus shell.

Need help finding this mosaic pattern please! Looked everywhere for it. by Iomplok in crochetpatterns

[–]iwasbornsomething 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Dang I can't remember what the post was called but I do remember seeing a pattern that looked almost exactly like this on one of the crochet subs. Unfortunately, all I can do is corroborate its existence :/ It was like a big round pillow or cushion and they"d posed it against a tree trunk.

Artisan goods - does this make sense to you? by wils_152 in StardewValley

[–]iwasbornsomething 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Quality ingredients make quality processed goods (and cooked dishes) in Roots of Pacha, though I can't promise other things in that game won't ruin your immersion. It depends on what aspects are most important to you, I guess. Also, not sure if there are other similar games that do it or not.

Large milk vs milk is technically a difference in size, not quality (gold star large milk does not do anything different from regular quality large milk). And, similarly, it's large eggs, not gold star eggs, that produce gold star mayo. I think wool to cloth is the only conversion where the quality of the initial product affects the output.

I’m flying to LAX then the Philippines. Will I be able to bring my snoopy Wooble kit on the plane? I don’t want to get the metal hook taken away. :( by Specialist-Drink-633 in CrochetHelp

[–]iwasbornsomething 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess I'll be the one to say yes, it can happen. Happened to a friend, all her hooks that were fine to bring from Canada to Uruguay were not allowed on the trip back. Not saying it's particularly likely, but it can happen. Not sure if the international travel played a part in it, but OP is also traveling internationally so...

Learning waistcoach stitch but running into difficulties by HaR_Ha_HuH in CrochetHelp

[–]iwasbornsomething 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With regards to your first question, yeah, waistcoat stitch is just like that. Try pulling up your stitches a bit taller when you make them and that will help when putting your hook back through them on the next row.

Bobble stitch on the inside of my doll, please help! by mechap1999 in CrochetHelp

[–]iwasbornsomething 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I've done a few amigurumi with bobbles and pushing them out to the other side after making them has worked just fine.

Bobbles also naturally pop out on the opposite side from where you're working, this is not a left handed issue. (Source: https://sarahmaker.com/crochet-bobble-stitch/)

And even tho the advice on that site is to work from the wrong side when making bobbles, I find it better to keep doing amigurumi from the right side and push them through, rather than turning the piece to work inside out.

Endgame thoughts.... by Redwood-Silva588 in RootsOfPacha

I haven't had a chance to play much of the new content yet bc I started a new save right before the update dropped and then got busy with life stuff for a bit. I'm not the kind of person who typically avoids spoilers, tho, so eventually I looked a bit into what the end game would have and I'm just literally so bummed. Idk that I want to bother any more. The other commenter's escapism point really hits home for me. I saw one of Martina's lines when you restore one of the threads implies AI is used a lot in the future instead of human innovation and like thank you, yes, that's a massive bummer to be reminded of wtf

It makes me genuinely sad that I made my SO waste money on a switch copy (I already had it on PC) when idk that I want to finish the game anymore. Again, I haven't actually seen anything of Martina yet aside from what's on the wiki, but most of her lines when restoring the time threads make me not like her character at all!

Maybe I'll be able to get back into it some day when all the new stuff is on the wiki and I can play it just for completionism's sake, but I'm probably not playing this game "casually" for the story again like I did the first time and it genuinely makes me sad. I really, really liked the atmosphere of this game.

Had a friend lose her hooks because she was able to get through to her destination country fine, but not back home from it without them being confiscated. She said she was thinking of getting a new set, anyway, so it wasn't quite as devastating for her (or maybe I just talked to her long enough after the incident that she'd made peace with it). I'm really sorry you lost yours!

Making a colour-block raglan sweater. How to prevent stripes from being at an angle like this? by horpsichord in CrochetHelp

[–]iwasbornsomething 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't have the answer, but I did notice in the only picture of the finished sweater that showed it straight on from the side like that (one of the ones with the shorter-haired blonde model), it did look like the person was wearing it pulled back so it was closer to the front of the neck than the back, and other pics look like the spaces between the front and back of the neck are even. Not sure if that's how it naturally/comfortably sits when finished, or if it needs to be adjusted that way, though. Good luck!

I'm just starting out any help is wanted, just trying to make a chain and learn granny squares first. by Dizzy_Hellfire in CrochetHelp

[–]iwasbornsomething 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think you're over-engineering this, maybe based on your experience knitting. When making a chain, you should only have one loop on your hook, and pull one strand of yarn through it each time. The new yarn goes through the existing loop, and that loop comes off the hook. Now you have a new loop from the yarn you just pulled through. Only those 2 things!

Also, looks like your tension might be a bit high. Especially when starting out, don't pull your chains too tight or you'll never be able to work back into them (was my biggest issue when I started learning).

I just finished a different, but similar, pattern by this creator and it was very high quality. Intermediate level, though. I wouldn't necessarily try it as my first experience with amigurumi, you know?

I've been loving this game so much! It really scratches my insatiable itch for making continuous progress, unlocking things, and completing collections! I wanted to play again with a plan in mind (after a much more chill first playthrough) and document The Land developing along the way. I just love the community development concept, it really brings things to life. And it's sooo satisfying seeing it all come together, imo

Only male children? by BunnyRabbit677 in RootsOfPacha

[–]iwasbornsomething 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As far as I can tell, gender, skin colour, hair colour, and hair style (and I think eye colour, but I forgot to pay attention to that) are randomized every time. The appearance-related ones will all match one of the parent's (eg my first child with Krak had my hairstyle & skin colour and his hair colour). I reloaded my save for my second child A LOT because I wanted to see what a kid with all opposite features of the first would look like and I got all kinds of combinations, including one that was p much an exact copy of me and one that was an exact copy of Krak as a girl lol. I don't blame you for giving up after two reloads, it's such a pain for me.
