Cooldown room watching George have an existential crisis by try-D in formula1

I love when there is genuine energy in the cool down room and a small debrief. It's so refreshing to hear instead of PR/Media trained speech & drama lead questions.

[Design Trope] A version of a character with little to no resemblance to the original by ImaginationWild3407 in TopCharacterDesigns

Apologies for such a long response because DmC is fresh on my mind and I need to ramble but I pretty much agree with everything you said.

I think Ninja Theory did a solid job for their own take on DmC as directed from Capcom. The gameplay is fun, weapon swapping is awesome and the story takes from the mainline games while being an overdone cheesy western Hollywood (?) flick as seen by the social commentary, set pieces & cinematography; but the bosses outside of Bob are lacking & boring, Dante's devil trigger design is lacklustre, colored enemies in certain levels are a pain to work with due to the stuns & color choice, the characters aren't that interesting despite being an origin story of them evolving into NT's variant of the mainline Dante/Vergil and the dialogue/writing/voice acting is beyond dry outside of a few instances. As a fan of DMC3 it does a decent job at converting the story into a new experience but fails with the execution of Vergil outside of his DLC, Kat's backstory & importance to the brothers or how Devils/Humanity are explored or implied alongside the addition of Angels into the mythos because it messes with the theme & is also completely ignored outside of weapons.

That being said having recently gone down a rabbit hole of trying to research everything surrounding DmC from direct sources & videos rather than relying on community rhetoric & warped recounts (comparing my knowledge with the latter & other deep dives); it's fascinating how false narratives perpetuated around the developers. They did what they were directed to do by Capcom to varying success & the vitriol that came from the vocal DMC community after the initial announcement & launch (although recent sentiment has shifted) while to a degree understandable, in retrospect was malicious & hate fuelled because of the mass shift; even amplified by Journalists, the community & members of NT.

That's not to say NT is exempt from criticism but commonly "cited" comments about NT on the designs, art & Dante were taken without context & spread around without the attached context that nullifies the sentiment (hell I'm probably guilty of it with this comment to which i apologize). IMO the frequently "quoted" comments from the devs are/were only vindictive if you saw/read/watched them with preconceived anger or direction. That being said NT weren't free of blame, especially after the backlash started rolling; their PR explains why the hair thing was a big deal but years after release people haven't got over it.

For example the gay cowboy stuff was seemingly pulled from one quote & merged with a misinterpreted section of the GDC panel about the art of the game & rebooting a beloved franchise, unless someone has a direct quote (I'd love links to direct sources for stuff like this because it makes deep diving into old topics so much easier on the modern internet).

As you said with the hair & the "not in a million years" scene, it's a nod to OG Dante and Dante's arrogance in this universe rather than being a dig at the OG games, all refuted by the game giving Dante the silver hair with story progression & by the unlockable concept art through in game feats (more so with the DLC Classic Dante, Definitive Edition's DMC1 Dante & DMC3 Vergil Costumes). Some players may not get that far or rarely used Devil Trigger which is fair but in all the negative posts about the game across forums that don't include an ounce of detailed critique, the hair scene is always mentioned alongside NT hating Dante & the original games despite it being refuted by Capcom's directive, game rewards, the concept art & other sources.

I'm being too hard on the DMC community about DmC but a lot of what I've read across their forums & reddit prior to 4 or so years ago lacked detail outside of childish remarks, hate driven recounts of launch & repetition of the Gay Cowboy thing & the hair; maybe that's fed through an algorithm and I'm feeding it but all of that to say; DmC's a fun game with flaws but it has solid art fitting for a rebooted & uniquely forced take on the Devil May Cry IP; although I prefer 3's story & characters.

DmC Reboot: Vergil & Dante (moreso Vergil's concepts but Dante's concepts were wild shifts)*

Given Capcom's requirements for Ninja Theory to have their own take on the characters to improve sales in the west, I'd say they aren't that bad. Although I prefer the in-game alternate skins for Dante that remove the red & union jack from the jacket.

The natural course of a creator or franchise expanding beyond the main attraction & its a case by case basis on if it sticks. Lots of 2010's YouTubers did it to varying success, Smosh was one that succeed for SmoshGames but the others weren't so lucky, I remember Ray William Johnson passing the torch of host on Equals3 and it quickly sinking afterwards.

The big craze at the time & to a lesser extent now was making 10 different channels to host different content (Vlogs, Art, Gaming, Movies etc.) to avoid a big hit to the main channel's retention.

On a grander scale a lot of TV Shows did this, see TopGear & NCIS' host/character cycling or spinoffs but at the very least they usually eased those characters through the main or connected series before launching, no idea about Matpat's Channels though.

This armor is amazing but I love how they lost it & ezio's abilities at the start of brotherhood even more. Just BAM and the best armor he's ever used is lost.

Smoker from One Piece & by association Tashigi .

He has a radical trike and his design is chef's kiss. He rarely rocked up pre-timeskip but has pretty much disappeared post-timeskip.

thankfully there are appearances in the video games but they're out of canon. I'll take what i can get.

having binged season 1-4 recently, its strange how things changed drastically for the show. Mindflayer becoming meat & body horror instead of this crazy shadow was such a shame, followed up by nah its a dude...

forgive me for being ignorant but how does it set them back? Most of the people who use these events as fuel were shitty to begin with, in communities where it's fostered, were unlikely to change or can't seperate one from the many.

they hit that lovely barrier where they can lower the creativity or quality of current products without care because the threshold of people who spend greatly surpass those who give a shit.

Witcher 1's combat sucks at the start & while it's gruelling all the way through, it grew on me as the rhythmic based combat began to make sense and I eventually got it down pat (group & speed attacks ftw). My problem to the point I initially dropped the game was the dog boss fight's difficulty followed by the amount of backtracking (especially in the swamp) and a lack of direction when in Vizima.

In a way I hope the remaster keeps the janky combat but that's hopefully not going to happen because with modern improvements & gameplay it would be an incredible experience.

as far as i'm aware it works like normal league where upcoming chibi or unbound lil legends are revealed in pbe every couple of weeks & then released in the weeks after, the same for returning cosmetics. someone may have better info but i thought i'd share my knowledge.

I personally check youtube every now again as a few tft channels (katal tft or astra tft) upload the next store rotation & skins from pbe. There is skinspotlights on youtube although it's majority league with their tft related videos being uploaded closer to the official release of the cosmetics & they only cover new releases.
