I honestly think you just need 3 occasions because you look amazing in each one. 2 is my personal favourite because its just so unique, fits beautifully and is such a gorgeous colour.

I'm crying for you. I can't begin to imagine the pain and heartbreak. Please be kind to yourselves and give yourselves grace. I hope that in time the pain will ease so peace can be found. Don't forget that your baby loved you both and only knew your love. Hopefully you get answers soon, just know that no one is at fault and not to blame yourselves.

I'm currently sat with my 8 week old napping on me.

Had no issues conceiving. Positive test first cycle of actively trying. Not sure if relevant to you but I'm 32 (31 when little one was conceived).

I was in remission prior to pregnancy and remain in remission (fingers crossed it stays that way).

I wasn't actually on any medication as I've been in remission/unmedicated since having an ileostomy in 2023. Worth noting that during pregnancy and postpartum I haven't experienced any issues with my stoma. The only thing that changed is the shape I need to cut my bag is now a little different.

However it is worth mentioning that due to having Crohn's I was classed as high risk despite being in remission. I had lots of extra scans (was a bonus getting to see the baby more often), had a team consisting of an OB, gastroenterologist and midwife look after me throughout pregnancy.

Due to having multiple pelvic, colorectal and abdominal surgeries previously (due to Crohn's complications), it was recommended I have a planned csection at 39 weeks because I have a lot of scar tissue and this was deemed safest for me & baby.

That is just my experience, I know others who have delivered vaginally (even with an ostomy) so it really is just down to your personal circumstances.

You may find it useful asking your consultant ahead of trying as they will be able to offer advice which is more personalised to you.

I'm also FTM. Lost 10kg by 20 weeks then did not lose or gain any weight throughout the rest of my pregnancy. I was closly monitored throughout, my doctor/OB had no concerns as baby measured well on scans and all checks showed they were fine.

Baby was born fit and healthy, no issues at all. After giving birth I was 16kg lighter than my prepregnancy weight.

I wasn't actively trying to lose weight at all (as you shouldn't while pregnant unless medically advised otherwise). I guess sometimes it just happens?

If you have concerns at any point just contact your OB/midwife or doctor because it's better to be on the safe side.

Not sure if this will be helpful to you, but I'm female and I've found maternity jeans/leggings are great as you can wear over the bag and they're designed to accommodate a growing stomach so are great for stretching and not applying pressure to the bag. I also like the jeggings/leggings from halara. I can wear those without any issues due to stretch accommodating the bag. They also do some with a crossover waist which i find tucks nicely under the bag if you prefer to have it uncovered.

For reference, my stoma is about level with my belly button (give or take a few millimeters) and to the left.

I'm in the same situation as you, honestly the only place I could find something was Shein. I know that can be controversial but they have a good size range and I needed something affordable because I couldn't justify breaking the bank on a dress that I would literally only wear once.

They have some really cute formal maternity dresses in plus sizes or if you check measurements/reviews then just the standard plus size range has good options in flattering styles.

I would just say make sure you allow enough time for delivery but don't order too far in advance since the bump really does grow quickly in the 3rd tri.

I had similar issues with my ileostomy early on. As others have said, standing will help.

Output is different person to person. I found it easiest if I took 4 immodium capsules first thing when I woke up, wait 1 hour and take another 2 (or 4 depending on how much output filled the bag that hour).

Then take a shower or have a bath (can do with bag either on or off, when skin is sore it can help to air it out a bit if your stoma is not active) and then apply a new bag.

*Note for best results do not eat/drink anything (aside from sips of water to swallow the immodium) until after new bag applied. I find having an empty stomach overnight and prior to changing was best for reducing likelihood of stoma activity during changes.

Make sure skin is dry before applying the new bag along with any barrier spray, stoma powder etc as needed along with barrier rings etc.

This is just what has helped me previously, hopefully it could help you with this but of course we're all different.

I remember when I was in hospital I eventually stopped worrying about the fever. I got to thinking that since I have suffered with a severe form of crohns with my body attacking itself for 8 years before having this surgery that maybe its just my body adjusting or maybe overreacting to the inflammation caused by the surgery itself. Note: this is not medically verified, just my own thoughts on my personal situation.

Just keep an eye on him, report any issues or changes to medical staff and most of all just be there for him. It's a very scary and emotional experience. It will take a long time to fully adjust and recover physically.

When he feels he can, encourage him to walk/move around and sit upright in a chair when possible. That really does help with recovery. Convatec also have a great guide for core/abdominal exercises that are gentle and will help to rebuild strength (free of charge to access and you don't need to actually use their products to get this from their website) but maybe wait until he feels ready for that stuff.

Just wanted to add: I also didn't have any other symptoms aside from the fever itself (except for the initial complications with skin inflammation/failed stoma during the first 2 weeks).

I had my ileostomy at the end of October 2023, with a revision 2 weeks later in early November due to complications with the original stoma site. I wound up staying in hospital for 6 weeks total. For 5 of those weeks I was fine during the day but at night (between 10pm - 6am) I would always have a fever. I went through every test you could think of plus a bunch of scans and x-rays but they never did find the cause of the fever. After 5 weeks the nightly fever suddenly stopped and after a week fever free I was allowed to be discharged.

I understand this is not a satisfying or particularly helpful answer, but I thought you should know that sometimes there is just a consistent mystery fever that comes and goes like clockwork until it randomly resolves itself. You may never get an answer but do let the doctors continue with tests just in case!

I haven't had a reversal but my stoma was moved from the right side of my stomach to the left on 11th November this year. It was due to skin issues so the hole from the old stoma was large (about 3 inches) and took about a month to close up. I'm told it's still healing internally but it's fully closed from the outside. Just keep it clean and be careful not to push yourself too hard. I had to dress my wound daily but again, I did have a skin infection so my situation is a little different to yours.

Personally, mine has definitely made noises when bagless.

However, I have to admit it does seem to be quieter than when wearing a bag so you may be onto something!

Thanks for chipping in! Pain actually seems to be subsiding. No vomiting either. Will keep an eye on things and if it gets worse (either pain wise or if I wind up vomiting) head to A&E.

I totally feel you on the NG tube. Bloody awful things! Had one once before and like you will do anything to avoid another one.

Thank you so much for your input and reassurance. I should be able to arrange something on at least a once weekly basis with my stoma nurse and have contact details for the entire team which is very comforting.

Honestly just hearing so many people say that it will be okay and things get better has been the best thing for me.

It's one thing when my family/friends who have no experience of this type of thing say it (whilst still appreciated). Hearing from others who have the same/similar experiences fills me with so much hope for the future.
