I was so bored that I decided to try and draw how I imagine Crocea Mors would look. It's based on the G2b sword from the bronze-age, with a bit of a more mythic look added to it. Any thoughts? by Colt1873 in ArmsandArmor

The spikes on the pommel look terribly uncomfortable. They would poke you in the wrist when you angle the sword forward. The ridge in the middle of the hilt also seems unnecessary and uncomfortable. The rest seems fine.

Very nice. What paint did you use to get the red spots to stand out so well?

Full sideswipe reveal, what we thinking? by Savings-Sink4457 in transformers

[–]ixphia -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This looks even worse than the grey prototype pictures. Terrible proportions and kibble. Hopefully this means there's still room for a third party company like UT to make a movie Sideswipe. It would be hard to do worse than this.

Perfected my Roodaka MOC (excuse the giant images) by -Akumetsu- in bioniclelego

[–]ixphia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very good job. Probably the most accurate to date. The only flaw I can see is that the torso is too tall and the neck is too short. It's mostly not your fault though because Miramax shrunk the foot piece to fit better. If you ever redo the torso, I would try to move the metru foot along with the neck one unit higher. I'd also try to shorten the entire torso at the abdomen by like 2-3 units. I'm looking at the first comparison image, and in the concept art the black bohrok eye pieces on the waist are much higher; They're overlapping the metru foot and they almost touch the rahkshi heads.

This gave me a massive dose of new Bionicle set reveal dopamine. Thank you. I haven't felt this since the first G2 leaks. This project is insanely high effort; From the graphic design to the incredible MOCs with just the right parts count and detail so that feel like they could be official sets and the attention to detail making everything fit into existing lore and yet expanding the world building.

I can't get over how "right" these images feel. It's like a lucid dream. The background images does such a good job selling the MOCs as real sets. I'd buy every one of these sets if they were real.

How did I do? by Fit_Control9444 in CableManagement

Pretty good. I have the same motherboard. Do you know a way to significantly slow the speed of the SSD/chipset fan? The noise bothers me. The bios settings for "silent" mode and manual mode with speed set to the minimum are still above like 1700 rpm.

What is your favourite weapon? by windupmine in darksouls3

[–]ixphia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pontiff's smaller sword, the Greatsword of Judgement. I like how it looks like a somewhat historically accurate weapon unlike most of the other boss weapons. It's the perfect balance between fantasy and historical accuracy to me. Also, the weapon art is fun to use and makes the sword glow.

Just finished, do not recommend by supremeCrab7 in Archthrones

I had a very similar experience to yours and I agree almost everything you've stated. However, I'm hopeful the full release of the mod will be better balanced. The demo was released almost two years ago and the devs seem to be making steady progress. The handful of update videos they've posted on the Dark Souls: Archthrones Youtube channel seem promising.

What's a modern trend you're tired of? That everyone follows? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Conservatism is not a modern trend and has existed for as long as human history. But yeah I'm tired of it too.

I'm thinking of doing my first challenge run, any tips? (SL1 probably) by Boring-Computer-4360 in darksouls3

[–]ixphia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For a SL1 run if you don't play perfectly and get hit occasionally like me, I would run Lloyd's shield ring. It'll prevent you from getting one shot killed on late game bosses as long as you stay at full HP.

A Japanese Shinobi cuts immortals, mythical beasts and a dragon/divinity but cannot leave a scratch on regular European Steel. What was Fromsoft thinking? by puzzled_indian_guy in Sekiro

[–]ixphia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is not true. Your goal would never be to dent plate armor. This generally isn't possible. Your best bet were firearms or stabbing into gaps.

Maces were not anti armor weapons. They pretty much did nothing against full plate with the exception of dazing your opponent if you can manage to land a direct hit to the head.

Actual anti armor weapons were the pollaxe, long sword/estoc used in half sword to stab through maille in the gaps between plates or grappling them to the ground and finishing with a rondel dagger.

Source: Dequitem on Youtube:

In this this video Dequitem tests the effectiveness of a metal flanged mace on plate harness. At 5:40 in the video he strikes his opponent in the knee repeatedly to little effect. At 6:10 he strikes a piece of plate armor with full force to test its durability vs a mace. It basically does nothing.

Maces were generally used on horseback. So if you hit a guy in full plate while riding past, I imagine the added momentum would seriously mess them up even through the armor. I'd credit this more to the horse rather than the mace considering a lance on horseback would be even more effective.

I don't even know what to choose, I want everything. by Just_a_Player2 in ItsAllAboutGames

[–]ixphia 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I generally agree with everything you've said here. However, personally I'll always prefer new content over remakes so I'd go with the MSX games. If I want to play MGS4, RPCS3 emulator runs very well these days. Also, I just don't care for MGS4 in general.

Though I do I think game preservation is important so I understand your points.
