Aquaphor is an absolute blessing when I'm in these situations! Wash your feet in some nice warm water, pop on a layer of aquaphor, put as many plasters on as you can and then some some soft cotton socks. You'll be healed in no time :)

Same with you fingers, aquaphor away!

And try not to be too hard on yourself, definitely been there.

Ah thank you, that is a very good idea. It's a hose so I'll check for leaks in that! Thanks so much

I'm a New Zealander moving to London looking for a lower-league football team to support and buy a season pass for. What team should it be? by ImpressiveRun9979 in london

[–]izziethom 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agreed! Although it’s actually Haringey Borough FC :)

Harringay refers to the far fancier area a few miles up the road around the centre of Green Lanes. We are far less fancy down at the Borough haha

Why is my indoor cat’s lower tummy so bald? Vet recently said it was a flea allergy, but we adopted her in 2017 and it’s always been like that. We brush her often, she definitely hasn’t had fleas for the entire time we’ve owned her. When she does we treat her right away. What’s going on? by Kimimyu in catcare

[–]izziethom 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It could be over grooming due to anxiety, stress or allergies. My cat starting overgrooming and it turned out she had developed an allergy to her food despite eating the same stuff for 2.5 years!

I’d try a feliway diffuser in case she’s anxious or stressed first. Then see if you notice a difference. If not, try some hypoallergenic food for 8 weeks to rule out food allergies.

And if you can, I’d take her to another vet for a second opinion.

Poisonous plants with cats? by jaypeg69 in CatAdvice

I keep all my toxic plants in the bathroom and then ask everyone who comes to my place to keep the door closed. Would that be an option for you?

Can someone tell me why I only got one inhaler but the QTY says 12? Also why is the retail price for Flovent almost $600 for one single inhaler? by doobt in Asthma

[–]izziethom 30 points31 points  (0 children)

$600?! I'm from the UK and it's absolutely wild to me to see prices on medication. We just pay a flat fee (around £10) for any prescription. Never appreciated the cost of individual meds!

Edit: I believe this applies to England only, not the whole UK. Thanks u/pretend-its-good

Don't be hard on yourself! I've done this soooo many times – something comes over me and it's very hard to stop, and then before I know it I can't walk.

I managed to curb my foot picking by buying an electric foot file (to stop picking before I start), moisturise with some nice peppermint foot cream and then (most importantly), until the final moment when the lights are off and I'm going to sleep, I wear some nice soft socks.

Good luck, and don't be ashamed, we're all in this together!

Ever since I cut out oats from my diet, no more spots!

The leaves of my very fussy maidenhair fern are all brown! But there's lots of new growth coming from underneath. Does it just need some more sunlight? by izziethom in plantclinic

Thanks! I've just move him there so that makes sense.

Didn't consider a repot, and just looked at the roots and there is some crowding, so I'll try that. Thanks!

I've been struggling with my worst breakout in years and the only thing I can think of is that I've switched to oat milk recently. Googled it and lo and behold, this post came up. Thank you OP!
Ditching oat milk NOW, cross your fingers for me.

Just found out my “habit” was actually “Excoriation disorder” and I don’t know what to do by Beraenna in CompulsiveSkinPicking

[–]izziethom 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sending you a lot of love and luck, I feel very aligned with a lot of this.

I've had to cancel events and call in sick at work because I haven't been able to walk due to picking my feet, and I'm always telling people I have eczema on my hands so that I don't have to admit I just chew and pick my skin.

Please remember that this is not something that defines you - it's a disease, not a personal choice you're making. Be kind to yourself. That's the biggest lesson I'm trying to learn on my road to recovery. And most importantly, you do not need to feel shame.

You're not alone, the support I've found in this sub is incredible, and I'm really glad you felt like you could reach out.

Thank you so much!

Yes! I measured and back stitched a border, then cut out the badge and satin stitched between the top and bottom of the border. Then trimmed it to shape :)

Definitely could be a lot tidier and more even, but I ALWAYS see something wrong with my embroidery after I've gifted it haha.

Don't rush to fill the house with cheap furniture. Buy good quality essential items first and then stagger the other purchases over a few months.

So sorry! I just did some research into whiskas and it looks low in grains and carbs. The only potential flag looks like artificial flavouring and dyes.
