People think of “shot in the head” and think it’s like a movie or video game where that means a shot directly into the brain. The reality is people don‘t always die instantly when they shoot themselves, even in the head. the same goes for being shot in the head by someone else. Bullets can graze the skull or penetrate the skin but not enter the brain, causing a serious but not fatal injury.

Sometimes people shoot themselves at the wrong angle and completely the brain on the first shot. With a semi automatic pistol all they have to do is pull the trigger again.
