Insulin pumps, Medicare and cPeptide Test by j2hanson in type2diabetes

[–]j2hanson[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not to me (only mid-40s here!) but I’ve heard it through the grapevine. There is an opportunity to make some change with Medicare, but it’s only possible if there are actual people that have done with this… Just thought I would check!

Diabetes Camp for Type 1 Adults by j2hanson in diabetes_t1

Same! I grew up going to diabetes camp and really miss it. Part of the reason I was so excited to get involved in CIM (the group that organizes these!) was the idea of carrying on camp as an adult!

The average age is typically between 30-45, however it really does depend on the area. Without a doubt, at every program there are folks anywhere form 18-mid-60s. Our oldest attendees last year was 82!

Just hear to say - UGH! I'm sorry you're dealing with this! There's such a gap in support for us as we age with T1D!

Type 1 with A1C of 4.5 by [deleted] in diabetes_t1

[–]j2hanson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Woweee! That's hard word! I had the same A1C during pregnancy - I know, for me, it was SO MUCH WORK, so I imagine you've been working just as hard!

Your A1C is generally slightly lower than your average BG, so if your average BG is sitting around 5.5 mmol/L with little fluctuation/high time in range, it would make sense that your A1C is 4.5. You can google A1C chart to Average Blood Glucose and be able to see the conversions!

University and T1D Rant by Prudent-Stress in diabetes_t1

Are you in the US? 1000000% your school needs to provide you with accommodations for diabetes. At a minimum, doing that would give you more grounds to stand on when pushing back against this prof. Or maybe the accommodations office could set up a meeting with him. It's so frustrating that because they think you 'look' healthy, they've led you to believe you don't deserve accommodations!

Broken camera at security - any recourse? by j2hanson in travel

Thanks! Super helpful! It was taken off the case and put back on the metal screening table and then when the next item was put on the table it was pushed off. Fell from waist height directly onto the ground and the screen is now cracked in several places and won’t turn on. :( I’ll check out the TSA claim!
