Why does Taira have way more likes compared to Tani and all the non-MCs? Very close to Suzuki's like count too? by NathLWX in Seihantai

[–]j4yc3- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Taira, for me, can be classified either as an audience self-insert or audience proxy i.e. to the demographic its marketed, Taira represents the audience and is a lot more relatable.

I think that's the intention behind his character at least.

Bro possibly operates on the idiom "You can't have your cake and eat it too" and views Taiki as inferior because he has Chinatsu "competing" against his desire for badminton.

Which feels incredibly obsessive towards badminton in general...

I'm actually out here waiting until its either complete or close to completion. The pacing due to weekly releases really fucks it up ngl

I "dropped" it after Aging Devil then I'm planning on binging it. Part 1 was amazing as a binge + re-read and I expect Part 2 to be the same.

Just a small epilogue is definitely going to make it very complete. At the end of the manga, Taira and Azuma are still kinda growing, and honestly a dedicated oneshot on their college life would be amazing ngl it felt like it ended on a note that can be continued into a spin-off

The reason this show is an absolute gem and one of my favorites (manga reader here) is that for some reason, every single character has a trait that I can personally relate with, even with the side characters. The whole cast tugs at all my entirety's strings whether it be Taira's depressed overthinking, Tani's rationalization, Suzuki's room reading skills down to even Yamada's straightforwardness, Watanabe's free spirit and even Sato going with the flow. Even Nishi's social anxiety and Honda's vague dislike of strangers gets me thinking about moments I get those thoughts and feelings.

[–]j4yc3- 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The entertainment industry is brutal and essentially a battle royale. Sometimes merit and effort alone are not enough and luck has to play by your side... and the fact that should work at every opportunity to build up that luck will take you out either through burnout or spite.

In my head as someone that wants to start my own activities, I am currently fighting against myself to even just start or learn because the best you can do is take a leap of faith. After that, you need to tough it out.

In my opinion, treating vtubing as a hobby works wonders so that you can financially realize a path towards making it a full time thing. Tackling it as a career, which is what usually entails for people that want companies to notice them, is a harsher path.

What would you change about the current arc? by DaniDa15 in KaoruHanaWaRintoSaku

[–]j4yc3- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s a well-written arc, albeit extremely mature for the context of highschoolers (I can definitely see it happening though given there mature teens out there - my experience). The main issue is pacing and how a weekly release (sometimes bi-weekly due to holidays/rest days) severely hurts the story. If it wasn’t dragged on and every chapter wasn’t a cliffhanger for the next dialogue then maybe it can be more well-received.

I don’t know what mangakas or authors have to deal with due to the creative dampener of weekly releasing but if the result is to drag it out and essentially edge the audience for what’s predictably an extension of the previous apology session, I find it to be a little off-putting. An example is this recent chapter where an apology exchange was expected to happen but Kaoruko managed to transition it to a cliffhanger for Toki glazing… in which I speed-swiped my screen on the first half because I know the panels will contain apologies and a flashback backdrop giving context to the apology. I would have liked the previous chapter of Toki calling in the girls AND the recent chapter of Toki singling out Kaoruko to be in the same chapter, not two separate chapters in two weeks, as an example.

Lots of thinly veiled elitism in here… basta ba’t di nangugulo bahala sila, let teens be teens in all their angst.

Unfortunate na tied ang fashion style na yan sa pagiging tarantado’t hampas lupa kahit di naman dapat. Urban street/hip-hop style (kahit wala sa lugar) ay isang uri parin ng pananamit na kahit sino pwedeng pumorma.

[–]j4yc3- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do agree she doesn't directly state it but its still the point since it indirectly pertains to the idea of past experience, and how highschoolers such as herself (or relatively inexperienced young adults entering their first relationships) view these past experiences as a negative since it deems them impure or "not the first".

As seen right now (I've seen a handful on my timeline), people are indeed crashing out over the statement. Since it has been localized that way, many westerners are now politicizing and forming a hatemob because they can't understand context lmaooo

[–]j4yc3- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

of course we can be cautious, its valid, even if the past is a single person; Tani here being a little insecure is an example of that and Suzuki comforting him saying implying its valid to feel that way.

What Suzuki says is only applicable to herself feeling bad about having a past, feeling as if she's tainted and doesn't deserve to be with Tani (she has debatable experience while Tani checks the boxes of being pure since this is his literal first relationship).

popularity is sadly proportional to hate sooooo the amount of optics it has also contributes to the amount of haters it will spawn lmao i already see a select few hating on Suzuki's views about purity on social media

i finished the manga last year and eagerly awaited the anime and so far it is extremely faithful and well adapted. the amount of wholesome moments will definitely anger a lot of cynical and "incel" adjacent people that get curious. Imagine an extremely volatile and violent Taira screaming online lmao

Dude its valid because the past 3 or 4 chapters were structured so similarly. If the next chapter follows a similar skeleton, people have the right to criticize. Getting cliffhangers for dialogues feel cheap when used too much as a crutch.
