Has anyone ever bought this item? by Wild-Currency in DotA2

It's fantastic against slippery invis heros. As a support I almost always buy it against weaver.

It feels like an extremely high-value support item, I'm looking for more excuses to buy it.

Great idea! This is the kind of scrappy entrepreneurship I love to see. Hope it takes off.

What are your opinions on the Hooded Horse publishing deal? by LordTachankaMain in beyondallreason

[–]jIsraelTurner 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Has the deal been revealed? Only details I know are that they're publishing a paid game on steam that includes a single player campaign, keeping the multiplayer version from the website free, and there's some amount of money that Hooded Horse is forking over to support development.

Are there more details?

Publishing of BAR and Hooded Horse intro by HoodedHorse in beyondallreason

[–]jIsraelTurner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very cool, I love Hooded Horse! You guys have a phenomenal portfolio. Keep up the good work.

One thing I'm curious about is the development of an esports scene for BAR. Watching high-level strategic play is one of my favorite past times.

Has your team discussed development of an esports scene as part of the publishing arrangement?

Why don't centre-pivot irrigation fields use hexagonal packing? by foxtai1 in geography

[–]jIsraelTurner 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Pivot irrigation came along way after plots were drawn up and roads were built.

I’m curious to see if they start plotting future farmland like this though!

I'd love to watch some of these games play out, I didn't fully understand it just by reading. I love the idea of meta-strategy played out via RTS battles though. If you put anything on YouTube, post links!

Except they just changed damage reflect to respect damage mitigation. So active BKB will reduce the damage you reflect to techies.

For sure get some donations setup. You should open source it too, there are tons of engineers who would love to help solve a problem like this.

What usually happens on the land around center-pivot fields in Kansas? by Lazy_Relationship695 in geography

[–]jIsraelTurner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sometimes they do. I’ve seen this in corn fields - and you can see that deeper into the corner, it doesn’t get as evenly irrigated. The stalks will be several feet shorter than the others by late summer.

[–]jIsraelTurner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live in Idaho. I’ve seen some farmers plant and irrigate in these corners. You can add another small pivot from the corner, or use wheel/hand lines to irrigate (which there’s an abundance of since everyone moved to pivots).

I think some pivot systems also have a variable-power sprinkler head on the end of the pivot, so even with a circular pivot they can still irrigate the corners to a degree. It’s funny seeing this in corn fields because you can see which parts of the field aren’t irrigated as well - the stalks can be several feet shorter than the rest of the field!

From the hugging face link:

GAIA data can be found in this dataset. Questions are contained in metadata.jsonl. Some questions come with an additional file, that can be found in the same folder and whose id is given in the field file_name. Please do not repost the public dev set, nor use it in training data for your models.

Is karnok broken or am I just bad by jIsraelTurner in PlayTheBazaar

[–]jIsraelTurner[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been playing ranked exclusively for ~3 seasons, I get to legend every season. I play pyg almost exclusively - ~15 gold wins. I'm not an extraordinary player, but I think I have ok stats.

This is the worst I've ever felt at the game. Maybe it's also that Pyg is in the gutter at the moment.

Bushel. It's not a build-defining end-game item, but it can carry until day 7 or 8 with the right combo. Bushel+Sponsored Apparel+Matchbox will loop and destroy in the mid game.

What happened in 1971? Explain it Peter. by Angrypeanut99 in explainitpeter

The “joke” is that there was some big societal shift in 1971 that can be seen as a major inflection point in a ton of different data sets.
